The driver of the 48 Lowes car was given a two year --- yup a two year extension on his contract.

On the heels of making his 12th Chase for the Sprint Cup appearance, Jimmie Johnson has signed a two-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports, sources confirmed to FOXSports.com.

The deal will keep the six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion behind the wheel of the No. 48 Chevrolet through the 2017 season. Also a two year deal with Lowes followed
