I was a friend and fellow racer with Max back in the 60's and 70's, but had lost touch with him after moving all over the country. Recently, I found Max again through his former driver, Joe "Beechnut" Wright, and the Facebook page on the Revenuer. On a recent trip to Montgomery, AL (from Texas), we visited together after being apart for the last 42 years. Sadly, Max lost his sight 12 years ago - he can't even tell night from day. His memory is fantastic, and he loves to talk about the old days of racing and of the people he met and knew back then. Max has very few visitors anymore, and can only listen to drag racing on TV - really not much else he can do without being able to see at all. His wonderful wife, Ann, reads National Dragster, the newspaper and any mail to him. I know Max must have hundreds of friends out there, because he was just that type of guy. If you want to make a comment here, or send Max a positive email: send it to me and I will forward all to Ann to read to him - they do not have a computer. It would greatly lift his spirit and he would absolutely love to hear from you.
