FIRST ANNUAL BOWMAN GRAY RACING PREVIEW SET FOR FEBRUARY 11, 2017

Event with the “Legends of the Madhouse” Will Be Held at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds

JB Promotions in partnership with the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds is proud to announce the First Annual “Bowman Gray Stadium Racing Preview” with the “Legends of the Madhouse”.   The event will promote local racing and at the same time, give something to some deserving causes.   JB Promotions has toyed with the idea of an event similar to the “Winston Cup Preview” that was held at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds for several years.   The location and racing history made “The Stadium” the logical featured track.

There will be an area featuring the cars of 2016 BGS Champions, Tommy Neal, Derrick Rice and A J. Sanders around the actual flag stand from the historic track.   That area will also feature the cars of 10 time Modified Champion, Tim Brown, 8 time Champ, Ralph Brinkley and 6 time Champion, Junior Miller.   There will be areas with cars of the current BGS drivers along with historic cars from days past including the “backseat driver” car made famous by Glen Wood. Glen and his brother Leonard, Rex White and Jerry Cook, will headline the “Legends of the Madhouse” group   bringing to four the number of NASCAR Hall of Fame members accepting invitations to attend.

There will be a day-long autograph session featuring the current drivers along with the “Legends”, drivers that paved the way for the stars of today at Bowman Gray. Many of the past BGS Champions and multiple race winners including Paul Radford, Johnny and Jimmy Johnson will attend. Many others have been invited and those attending will be announced as we move closer to the February 11 th event.   In addition to the cars and drivers and the autograph sessions, there will be plenty of things to entertain race fans including photo opportunities with the drivers and their cars, hauler tours through some of the tow rigs used to transport the cars, a memorabilia auction featuring sheet metal, tee shirts and team souvenirs, the Bowman Gray simulator, big screen TV’s with past and present BGS action and much more as activities are confirmed.

The decision on who would benefit from the event was really an easy one.   The Bowman Gray Stadium Racing Ladies Auxiliary and the job they do with the season ending banquet and their dedication to drivers and teams in all the BGS divisions was the deciding factor.   The “Auxiliary” ladies do a number of fund raising events throughout the year to raise money to help offset some of the costs in producing the BGS Champions Banquet held each year.   They host a golf tournament, sell snacks and drinks at the track during Saturday morning practice sessions and a number of other things to raise money.   They can be seen every race night during the pre-race activities firing tee shirts into the stands for the fans.   Their hard work will be rewarded through this event.   We hope the rewards from this event make their job easier.

There will actually be two benefactors of the proceeds of the event.   The second recipient is the “The Forever Is Tomorrow Foundation”. Scott Burton’s Foundation is dedicated to telling the stories of patients dealing with kidney disease and increasing public awareness and education while also providing resources and inspiration for patients afflicted and their loved ones.

Make plans to see the First Annual “Bowman Gray Racing Preview” with “The Legends of the Madhouse” on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Education Building. Doors swing open to the public at 10:00 AM.   Admission is only $10.00 and all proceeds benefit the “Forever Is Tomorrow Foundation” and the Bowman Gray Stadium Racing Ladies Auxiliary.

Tickets will go on sale January 6 at 10:00 AM.   Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Fairgrounds Annex Box Office on online at www.wsfairgrounds.com .   For more information and details on the event visit www.wsfairgrounds.com .

(Driver lineup is tentative based on their early commitment but could change.   Check the Bowman Gray Racing Preview face book page for additions to the drivers listed, memorabilia and activities.)
