I had the honor and privilege of spending two hours with Harold Brasington back in 1994 as he told me the complete story of his involvement with Darlington. I had intended to write about him but almost everything he told me had been written and told so many times. He was a very kind man and one of the things I remember so well is how soft-spoken he was. I will be looking forward to hearing what his son has to say! Thanks, Bopper, for getting him to share his memories.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

BB, great idea...world famous minnows!

Harold Brasington, unquestionably, is one of the iconic figures of stock car racing that has been lost in the shuffle. However, his vision created our sport. True, stock car racing was notnecessarily unique to the South, but high-banked, paved mega tracks was...paving the way for Detroit and all that have followed. The timing of the early 1950's was absolutely perfect, and Big Bill France was quick to recognize the ultra significance of Darlington Raceway and the future it represented.
