Happy Birthday to King Richard

Richard Petty turned 74 today. I posted a blog of a few pictures from his past birthdays at the beach. Sorry for poor quality of some of them. I pulled them from old, scanned newspaper articles found via Google News Archive.

Losing Glenn Roberts was sad as he was getting ready to retire and marry or was just married. He was also one of Richard Petty's good friends.

For years and years, my family would send The King a birthday card. My mother thought that was one of her missions in racing and always saw that it was done. Happy Birthday Richard and thanks for all the wonderful times and memories.

And I very well remember the news of Fireball's passing on this day. We were in Daytona when we heard it (actually St. Augustine where we were staying for the race) and it was a sad day.
