I'm guessing many of you remember the Walt Disney shows from the 50s which chronicled three parts of the life of Davy Crockett. My youngest brother, Gary, now deceased, was always in one of those coon skin caps and had one of the toy "Ole Betsy" rifles. It was a big thing. Heck, even the theme song from the show was on the radio all the time.

As I am often prone to do, since there is very little on network television worth watching, I tuned to the "Disney Movies on Demand" last night and one of the movies was the three episode Crockett saga putinto a movie. Great watching it again!

If any of you remember, when things were happening in Davy' life, they would show a hand drawn map of the travels of Davy. Last night, in the part where he and George E. Russell were headed for Mississippi, they went through Alabama, of course, from Tennessee. On that map was "Taldaga" . Even in 1955 and '56 when these Crockett shows were made, the little Alabama town was destined for greatness!!!

Oh, and as to the song, there is absolutely NO TRUTH to the rumor, that "Born on a Mountain Top in Tennessee" has anything to do with our own Jeff Gilder.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
