Yep, it is officially stated by Jeff himself on his page. The upcoming 2015 season will be his last full time ride. He doesn't rule out selected events post "retirement".

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Hard to believe. I never had the opportunity to see the King win. Yet I was in the stands for Jeff Gordon's 1st Cup start in 1992, his first Cup win in the 1994 Coke 600 at Charlotte, and his first Daytona 500 win in 1997.

Chase,

I saw the King win and I also saw Gordon win at Rockingham in the Baby Ruth Bill Davis Ford. I think that was his first Grand National (Busch) win.

I was also at Atlanta in 1992 for Jeff's first Cup start and Richard's last, as well as at Rockingham for the Bill Davis/Baby Ruth Busch win by Jeff. I started looking and although I started going to races in 1964, I didn't see the King win for the first time until 1967 at Richmond.

I saw the King win several times beginning with the 1963 "Rebel 300":, and saw Jeff win at Rockingham in 1998. I became aJeff Gordon fan after watching his success in ESPN's "Thursday Night Thunder:" series at IRP in the late '80's. I was alsoa DuPont paint jobber, and received Jeff Gordon promo items before he ever ran his first Cup event. Been a Gordon fan ever since.

When Richard Petty retired in 92, I never thought dropping my interest in racing. I've never found a suitable replacement to cheer for as fervently as I did the King, but I've continued to follow racing. I pulled for Kyle Petty, Sterling Marlin, Casey Atwood, Bobby Hamilton Sr., and a handful of others. But I didn't follow their careers as much as I did Richard's - yet I continue to be interested in the present and historical sides of racing.

You may not latch onto Jimmie Johnson, Chase Elliott or anyone else in the near or long term. If so, understandable. But my hunch is you'll still keep an eye on NASCAR on a regular basis.

I stopped doing little more than keeping an eye on NASCAR years ago. I kept my eye on it this long only because of Jeff. It's hard to explain, but I am no longer a fan.

Ha... that used to be Ray Hendrick's favorite phrase after he'd beaten the field at Martinsville yet again and got another grandfather clock... "We cleaned their clock today!"

SONNY HUTCHINS WOULD SAID "HE LOST EVERY FIGHT HE WAS IN".
BECAUSE OF HIS POOR EYESIGHT, HE WORN THICK EYEGLASSES.
BUT SONNY'S THICK EYEGLASSES MADE HIM SEE WELL ENOUGH TO WIN AUTO RACES.

Thanks for any information or photos posted.

And, Sonny always raced in those thick, black prescription sunglasses on bright, sunny days!

Sonny's eye wear had gotten a bit more stylish in later years, as evidenced by this photo of Sonny snickering in the background as Bobby Allison and Bill Dennis argued at Southside Speedway:
