Are there any rules here about photographer credit for posted photos?

Tyler has just posted a group of 60s and 70s funny car pictures that are mine from my http://nitrohutch.smugmug.com galleries. I took these photos and I sell prints through smugmug.
I'd at least appreciate photo credit when someone else downloads my stuff and posts to this, or any other web site, where people assume that the posting member took the photos if there is no photographer named.

Contributors should only post photos they own or have permission to post. Photo credit should be applied whenever possible. Many of my photos on the Stock Car site we donated to the site to be shared with racing history enthusiasts. The photographers are unknown, but I have a message on my page to let me know if any photographers are identified so proper credit can be given. In today's internet world once they are out there it's impossible to control for us. I have had photo dealers tell me their photos are on my site without permission...only to contact the contributor to be told..."I bought the print...without any restrictions to the internet". So what do we do in this case? I think it is up to the dealer and the buyer to control where they go. we are looking into adding watermark capability to discourage copy, but that will most likely be down the road a bit.Let me know if I can help.Jeff

JeffThanks.I realize that when I post one of my photos to my smugmug, com galleries , anyone can download and do whatever they wish with it. I don't put a copyright logo on them as these are the images that smugmug uses for the prints that are sold. There is a way to use a watermark and I will start doing that. Thanks again for your support.Hutch
