Can you name them? the top five championship winners over the age of 40..

In case your feeble mind is asleep or you just plain out having a blonde moment I will indulge you in this tidbit of juicy news. I already looked it up so you dont have to---unless you know something I dont know. And no I didnt make the cut on this one...............

#5 Texas Terry Labonte did it after he turned 42 in 1996

#4 King Richard won his final in 1979 at 42

#3 Dale Jarrett won his last at the age of 42

#2 Dale Earnhardt won his last in 1994 at the age of 43

#1 Bobby Allison won his one and only championship at the age of 45 in 1983

----- Oh yeah Tim didnt make it either. so now you have the rest of another story that someone is going to add to------------------ memories

Good trivia about how tough it is to not only race past age 40 - but also be a championship contender.

But are you talking about just Winston Cup champs vs. GN too? Lee Petty started racing GN when he was 35 and that was in 1949. So he would have been 45+ when he won his 3rd title in 1959.

Wondering about guys like Herb Thomas and Buck Baker too.

I never made the cut anywhere that matters. Guess I'll learn to get over it.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Thanks, Johnny. You're right about "Lady Ann". For the life of me, I can't figure out the other two times I made the cut but I do know that when you and I reconnected after all those years,I should count that as making an awesome "cut". It is great to travel "Memory Street" with you. You recall somethings I can't and then I have memories you don't seem to have. Together we could make a movie!!!! lol Not sure if it would be a documentary, a drama, or a comedy.

Ok the second cut was the nite you crawled into that Plymouth. You wiggled and slid your way into a decent finish the VERY first time you were behind the wheel of a race car. I know because I too were there that nite.
