Curiosity Question - Bristol Trucks

Why do you figure they run the trucks at Bristol on Wednesday night before what appears to be a very sparse crowd? When I was at Richmond, we used to run trucks on Thurs. night, Busch on Fri. night and Cup on Sat. night. Even though we drew as many as 65,000 to our Fri. night Busch race at RIR, it was tough, even in a metro area to draw over 20,000 for trucks on Thursday night. Unless there is some kinda special tv incentive, for the life of me I can't figure why Bristol runs trucks on Wednesday night rather than Thursday. Ideas?

Yep, and Humpy used to time Wednesday Charlotte qualifying to take advantage of the shift change at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis. I remember when the Charlotte Visitors Bureau used to hold a downtown Thursday night parade during World 600 week, with EVERY driver in attendance on a float or in a new car. We used to take the girls.

That "Transporter" Parade listed above made me think of Pocono. After the Pocono race when I would drive back to Charlotte or Richmond, thousands of race fans used to line all the overpasses on I-81 South to catch a glimpse of the transporters heading home. They had signs and everything and stood up there even after it got dark. Remember the guys in the coonskin caps at the turnoff into Pocono who'd wave to all the fans? Used to be a lot of folks, on the road from Corning to Watkins Glen who'd decorate their houses and buildings alongside the road in racing themes. Anybody who thinks the south had/has a monopoly on great race fans just needs to go see some races elsewhere (well, maybe not Fontana or Ontario).
