Jimmie Johnson parading around in his "Madagascar 3" hairdo at Dover rekindled memories of the disastrous Kyle Petty/7-Eleven/Petty Enterprises Winston Cup Series campaigns around 1983-1984.
That was when the 7-Eleven Clown out of Hampton, Virginia used to show up trackside and even tried helping Kyle on pit stops until I had that "element" removed from the 7-Eleven racing program and we moved Kyle to the Wood Brothers and added some professionalism to the sponsorship.
Now I am wondering if Jimmie Johnson and the 7-Eleven Clown are kinfolk? You decide. Or, maybe Kyle can tell us!
