Barely under the midnight wire of EDT. Busy day on the road. Now in Orlando after an earlier week trip to Philly and NJ.
Who woulda thunk it. April 18, 1999. John Andretti rallied late to win at Martinsville. JOHN ANDRETTI?? Yes. But even more remarkable than John's individual win is that it turned out to be the final Cup win for the storied Petty Enterprises team. 1999! Nothing in the 2000s. Y2K turned out to be a prolonged death knell for the Level Cross bunch.
But at least PE's winning ways went out in style that April weekend with a Martinsville sweep. Andretti took the Sunday show - and Jimmy Hensley nabbed Saturday's truck race.
