How Long Did PDA Last? It Was Involved in 1972 Richard Petty Night in Greensboro

I had "assumed" that the PDA - Professional Drivers Association - was dead and gone by the end of 1969.

This morning while researching something different, I came across a March 4, 1972 article in The Dispatch of Lexington, NC stating that the Professional Drivers Association and its acting director, John Green was involved in the planning of Richard Petty Night at a Carolina Cougars basketball game in Greensboro, NC.

Heck, maybe the PDA still exists. Who knows?

By the way, Richard Petty Night is mentioned in the Scott Fowler's book, North Carolina Tar Heels: Where Have You Gone? On Richard Petty night, Larry Miller set the single game scoring record for the both the Carolina Cougars and American basketball Association.

RP was still sporting the PDA patch in 1971 at Riverside.

And still had it at the October 1971 Rockingham race.

Here's a photo posted previously by TMC-Chase showing basketball player, Larry Miller in 1970 standing between David Pearson and Richard Petty:

Bet your money in Vegas, that NASCAR knows and remembers King Richard Petty's forming and wearing the big PDA shoulder patch on his uniform.
WHY even now, NASCAR is showing "PDA" union patch and printing racing booKs ,racing magazines, and racing programs with different photos of King Richard Petty wearing the "PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS ASSOCIATION" union shoulder patch.
Is NASCAR doing this to send an messaged to "Petty Blue" as an welcome back mat or as an go away mat to the "PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS ASSOCIATION" union/ "Country Club For Race Car Owners"union.

Thanks for any information or photos posted.
