Gilder Replaced At BJR

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

I hope y'all can recognize the intended humor in my post. Although the root of the story is certainly...somewhat... true, I wanted to give some publicity to the Bell & Bell Vintage Modified Series and the race at Lakeview this week end and thought this would get more folks to read about it...it worked...lol. If you ever check the site "Top Content" stats at the bottom right...you'll notice (at the time of this post) this post is already up to number 2.

Message to "W". It was a long wall! Darn near the length of the race track.

Gilder Replaced At BJR

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

For Immediate Release

Myrtle Beach, SC July, 22, 2011

Jeff Gilder was replaced as driver in a last minute move by Bell & Bell Vintage Modified super team, Bruce James Racing (BJR).

Amid the buzz associated with this weekend's premier event for the Bell & Bell Vintage Modified series, there was some unexpected news out of the (BJR) camp involving driver, Jeff Gilder. The series is scheduled to return to Carolina Speedway in Lakeview, SC this Saturday night in what is expected to be one of the largest vintage racing events of the year. Series Sponsor Bell & Bell Buick GMC is also the title sponsor for this weekend's event. Unless he lands a ride with another team, the outspoken Gilder will not be competing.

Gilder who had one race under his belt with BJR was apparently abruptly ejected as driver for BJR for undisclosed reasons early Friday morning. Speaking to reporters outside his plush office at Zeus Media Network in normally sunny Myrlte Beach, SC, Gilder had this to say. "We didn't exactly have a stellar performance at our first outing. Bruce (James) asked me to drive the car and tell them (BJR) what it needed to be competitive. I did that in a well written 40-page epistle. The car chief for the #46 was let go shortly after that. I'm not sure if my epistle had anything to do with his dismissal. I don't think so. Regardless of this heartbreaking news, I have nothing but the utmost respect for the BJR team and wish them the best. But, If anyone has an open seat, I'm officially available. I'll drive it like I stole it...and remember...like my hero Ricky Bobby says...if ya ain't first, yer last."

Gilder, a former NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Champion, was making his long anticipated come back into Saturday night racing. Many expected this seasoned veteran who touts a lifetime 25% win-to-race ratio to be a star in the vintage racing ranks. Others who witnessed his performance in his last outing are not surprised at his dismissal.

" I was at Lakeview when Gilder made his come-back debut," said renowned motorsports artist, Michael W. Smith (aka W)." He looked like a monkey on a football, if you know what I mean. He ran completely out of the track during practice and later pounded the only (front stretch)wall on the track. You'd think with only one wall on the track even a half-assed driver could miss it. Apparently not! He was complaining about the car not handling well and said the brakes and steering were messed up. Frankly I was glad to see the no-driving, squid park the thing during the race before he hurt someone."

BJR representatives were unavailable for comment, but it is rumored they will field at least 3, possibly 4 of the 7 cars in the extensive BJR fleet of vintage race cars. There's no official word, but it is believed that Kieth, lead mechanic at BJR will be given a shot in the #46. "Kieth is an awesome mechanic", said Gilder. "I hope the changes he and I made to the car last night prove to make it a pleasant experience for him."

With or without Gilder, the show will go on this Saturday night at Carolina Speedway. Promoters at the famed track are asking fans to please arrive early in order to avoid another debacle like the one witnessed a couple of weeks ago in Kentucky. One local resident has reported lines are already forming and some have been camping at the facility since yesterday. All routes into the track will be heavily patrolled and fans are warned of the infamous Nichols speed trap.

End

Captain America

General

The often "outspoken" Captain America will be our guest tomorrow night on the Goat Rodeo (March 27, 2012). He has something he wants to get off his chest about what is "wrong" with NASCAR today...and those who are contributing to the "problem"...as he sees it.

He has never held back his opinions...don't expect him to do so on the radio. This is going to be fun!! Put the young 'uns to be early tomorrow night. This may not be a PG Goat Rodeo. Probably not as bad as the one with Hubert Platt...but beware....lol.

The Captain America chapter along with the DK Ulrich Chapter are both master pieces. Must reads!!These guys are telling the stories we all want to hear, and Perry wrote the book exactly in their words. One of the best books I've ever read!
