Stock Car Racing History

You actually did a post on this race two years ago. But nevertheless, it shows that you have learned new things about this race since then!

Lost races of NASCAR history- calling TMC Chase

Stock Car Racing History

I've got the answer: the 1951 and 1952 Erie races were BOTH Short Track division races per the 1953 media guide.

Lost races of NASCAR history- calling TMC Chase

I knew you would do it!

I'm pressing my luck, but have you ever seen anything else about the Erie races in 1951 and 1952? Or a 1951 Canfield won by Lloyd Moore?

And this isn't every article previewing this race!

Chase, here are references to a 2nd NASCAR Grand National race at the Williams Grove Speedway in 1954. NASCAR raced there in June, but this article is saying the race is to be run on August 15. Herb Thomas, Hershel McGriff, Buck Baker, Dick Rathmann, Lee Petty, Joe Eubanks, and Dave Terrell were all there.

After some pushing, I discovered that the race was rained out: http://www.newspapers.com/newspage/48746209/

Was this race rescheduled or was the rainout the end of the show? $10,000 in purse money seems too large to just can the race as that would have been the 3rd largest purse of the year.

In addition, we have the mystery of the 1952 race in Erie, PA, on August 15, which was a followup to 1951. The article previewing the 1952 race mentions Lloyd Moore winning at Canfield in 1951, a race also missing. It is possible that the Erie race was rained out as the town was soaked on the 15th and the 16th.

September 1956 - A lost race for Alex FL Racing Fan?

Stock Car Racing History

Well, it sounds like it's not really a lost race. It's more of a "didn't happen." Nevertheless, this is an example of the growing number of holes being discovered in the NASCAR history books.

Mr. Gery,

Check out the article I wrote on this. Much of the information in that I got after interviewing your uncle! He was a big help, and I am very thankful for his stories as he made that article possible. It was actually finished on Tuesday!

This link has a lot of of pictures from both the Buck Baker series and the All-Pro truck series.

It appears that at least four of the know drivers in 1983 Baker series also raced in the 1984 All-Pro Series

Looking For Information on Buck Baker's Truck Series

Stock Car Racing History

Requesting information.

I am working on a project to track down information related to Buck Baker's truck series, the National Pickup Truck Racing Association, which ran in 1983.

Here is all I have:

Bobby Fleming, Randy Baker, Tom Usry (deceased), Doug West, George Pultz, and Steve Sigurdson ran the series

The trucks were pre-1981 NASCAR Winston Cup cars with standard pickup truck sheet metal over the body

NASCAR observed but did not assist with the series

I am looking for information about:

the trucks

the schedule

the drivers

the cause of the series failure

the connection between this and the All Pro Moroso Performance Pickup Truck Series (All Pro Truck Series)
