Jim, I first read that book in 1971, it's been an influence in my life ever since. It's also the best racing book I've ever read......a close second, though, is "Driving With the Devil".

What if Bruton owned a 'plate track? Would the official NASCAR-plate position be so rosy? Remember, NASCAR once threatened to pull the plug on Texas because of banking transitions and water seepage....citing safety concerns (LOL!).

Junior went on the say that today's 'excitement' would surely capture a lot of attention, BUT it was not productive for the long-term health of the sport................. I cold not agree more.
