Qualifying story from Daytona Beach Morning Journal
Today in 1954, Lee Petty wins the one and only Grand National race held at Sharon Speedway. Though it was only GN race at the track, Sharon still operates today under the ownership of Dave Blaney and his family. Read on for more:

Tim Flock
Maurice Petty
Dale Jarrett
Jack Ingram
Fireball Roberts
Tim Flock - AGREED
Chief - Really thought he'd have to wait another couple of years. Though as a Petty fan, I'm elated about his selection.
DJ??? One day - but not now.
With Tim Flock getting in, Joe Weatherly should have gone in as well. Their records (and championships) were very similar.
Fireball was a popular choice and has been for some time. But I think Lorenzen should have gone in before him.
Ingram - I'm OK with it - just not as excited. I realize its a NASCAR HOF vs. Cup/GN. But still.
The one I just can't absorb is Jarrett. But I've heard the King himself say they can't just vote in dead guys each year. Maybe so. I don't know. DJ is indeed NHOF worthy. I just think its too soon when so many other deserving ones are still on the table.
Two more photos of Tiny's eventual day. I just KNOW a better quality version of these have to be out there.

And thanks to ebay, here is a photo (albeit watermarked) of Tiny in victory lane.
And just a few weeks ago, Ed Wheatley shared this photo of the Camaro driven in that race by John Greenwood and Dick Smothers.
Appreciate your posting this Dave. Was hoping someone would get it rolling as I had an article already ID'd to add to it. Ha. Found this article a couple of days ago about Paschal winning the pole and comedian Dick Smothers being in the race. I have some recollections of watching the Smothers Brothers show back in the day. As a kid, I obviously didn't get a lot of the political jokes and other innuendos. But I do remember laughing at some of the sketches.
The imaged quality of this photo is terrible. But it with being an AP Wirephoto, I hope someone else will have a better resolution of it.
And here is a photo shared by Dennis Andrews about 3 years ago.
