Stock Car Racing History

1956 was a wierd year for Turner. On Labor Day he won the Southern 500 Grand National, then he didn't drive another Grand National until the end of October. In between he drove Modified/Sportman for about 8 weeks. johnny mallonee said:
Being the happy person i am today over the good good news i was told i will tell yall the answer it was curtis turner --he was leading the race on lap 181 when there was an 18 car pileup behind him--all but him was out of the race so he was only finisher out of 24 starting and 19 running at lap 181 when the wreck happened

Wow Johnny, I would have to step aside and turn that one over to Bobby or Jim Streeter. I may have to play 20 questions with you on that one.lol I'll study on it though.

We had a new driver at Raleigh, he wrecked many times. Joe Epton named him Shotgun Carroll. Besides being Chief Scorer for Nascar, Joe was also the Raleigh Track Manager.

"Your Daddy Did Great"

You got to be kidding me!

If I had a Dollar for every time he lapped me, I could buy NASCAR and all Bryan France's holdings.
