Had an email from Kay Kelly concerning the passing of Coastal Speedway driver Darrell Ottaway (see below) - RIP Mr OttawayI just thought you would like to know that Darrell Ottaway of Holly Ridge, NC gained victory when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 24, 2009.He talked of racing quite often and still had a great love of cars. I enjoyed seeing him drive his 1957 Thunderbird and 1947 Lincoln. He still owned several other old cars and trucks.He will be greatly missed!Please let others in the racing community know that he has won his final race.Thank You!K. Kelly

Hey Jim,From what I have been able to find Legion Stadium only had races for 2 or 3 years. The final year was 1954 which was under the Nascar banner. I'm sure you remember some of these guys from the final point standing. In 1955 Coastal Speedway in Myrtle Beach opened on the old Washington Park horse track, and most of the Wilmington drivers started coming to "The Beach".Jack
