Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA was the site of the June 26th, 1971 Nascar Late Model Sportsman race over the 3/8 mile paved track. The 100-mile race title was The Bill Bogley Gold Trophy Race. Bogley was a Bethesda, MD LincolnMercury dealer that helped promote the race raising the purse to $25000 made up of cash, and prizes. On race day there were 60 entries in the pits trying for the 30 starting positions. Tommy Ellis of Richmond won the pole driving a 1966 Chevelle. When the race started Sonny Hutchins grabbed the lead. By lap 25 it was a 3-way battle for the lead by Hutchins, Hendrick, and Hensley. Ray Hendrick won the battle by taking the checkered flag on lap 267 taking home $1500 for the victory.
Chase - Great find, but there were earlier Nascar touring series races held at Bowman-Gray. The Short Track Division of Nascar raced there in 1953-54-55-56.

July 23,1955 - Winner was Bob Welborn in 55 Chevy
May 26, 1956 - Winner was Jim Reed in a 56 Chevy
July 14, 1956 - Winner was Pee Wee Jones in a 56 Corvette
Ona ran Grand National races, Grand American races, and Grand National East races between 1963, and 1972.
Dennis - Just happened drive out to the Ona track yesterday. The track is really in the middle of nowhere, a few miles off hi-way 60, and kind of hard to get to. It's still paved, and in opera tion. It's looks a little smaller than 7/16, and is very flat. It's also right next to a small airport.
