Augusta International Speedway Documentary

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

Yes Vickie, Joe Cawley is the man for documentation of events in Augusta (and other places). He has an entire building full of items from the Augusta complex. The AIRPS group needs to plan a day to help Joe go through the information.Perhaps some of the information can be used at the pending revision of the Augusta International Raceway web site. The CD that you and Ken are putting together is going to be special.Henry

I need your help

Administrative

Jeff, if the Forum format will allow you to "Sticky" certain threads thereby always keeping them at the top it would be a big help.A simple suggestion would be something like: "This Day in Stock Car History" or "Those Gone but Not Forgotten".Also, as an important topic comes along it could be a "Sticky".Just a thought.Good Racing,Henry

Jeff, you are correct. One only has to visit this site to view the set up you suggest. I have been a member for over seven years and visit daily along with RacersReunion. http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?showforum=10 One great advantage of a Forum vs. Blog is that a Forum provides a search feature which can be used long after the "conversations" have taken place. Plus the Forum will allow posting/updating well into the future on specific topics.Good Racing!

Bring your Vintage Racing Results and News to RacersReunion

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

The premier vintage/historic racing group in the country is Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd. (HSR). I was fortunate enough to compete with this "fender to fender" group from 1995 to 2005 before retiring. They use a very relaxed rule book and rent the major tracks on the East and West coast for four days of fun. Here is the link and please bring other information to the Forum for others to get up to speed on the different groups. www.hsrrace.com Henry

Again, not being negative but fans must understand that on a global scale NASCAR is not a player. There is a lot of racing going on out there beyond our shores and it is all very exciting. The F1 group has issues but it is very impressive to me that they compete all over the globe and each team uses three 747's to haul their equipment around.

ARE SPORTS CARS STOCK CARS?

I personally have an issue with spec racing and a lot of the series fall into this catagory. But, the unique thing about sports cars and the thing I love, is that even if sports car racing developed into a spec series (it is not there, at least not yet) there would be different classes on track at the SAME time providing enjoyment for the fans and drivers, while going left and right, uphill and downhill, up and down the gearbox and hours of action packed racing when the Enduro's kick in.There is nothing like being at a track providing 3, 4 or 5 days of car racing in the lesser series while getting ready for a 12 hour Sebring or a 24 hour LeMans event.I love it!
