Current NASCAR

Micheal Waltrip is going to run in the 500 driving the Swan Toyota for Brandon Davis. He is supposedly only going to run one race in it then David Streeme will complete the rest of the season.. Also daid this was not a park and start car

How do you take your own motor to work,in a box or on a stand or how would you do it--Im curious .....

DirecTV HotPass is no more...

Current NASCAR

You are still welcome here on R/R . you can access the local in car chatter almost at will on the nightly shows, its kinda like a replay when Reverend Stagger gets wound up on one of his racing escapades. Or when Bobby looses his bearing on a track and calls it a lost track. But best it seems lately is when the goats get loose in the back yard and start chasing Jeff around ,especially the male one called RUBY. you go find out then you can be one of the gang that knows what racing is supposed to be without Direct TV .................. memories

A NEW YEAR--AN OLD RACE--A NEW NAME

Current NASCAR

The season-opening race formerly known as the Budweiser Shootout will now be The Sprint Unlimited at Daytona, Daytona International Speedway announced Monday.

The Sprint Unlimited marks the first time the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race cars will compete on track in an event.

Here is the field of drivers eligible for the event: AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Mark Martin , Juan Pablo Montoya, Tony Stewart, Martin Truex Jr. and past race winners Kurt Busch, Bill Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Terry Labonte and Ken Schrader.

The non-points event will be Feb. 16 (FOX 8 p.m. ET) but features a series of new elements, including a fan getting to help deliver the trophy in Victory Lane and participating in prerace ceremonies.

Now is this the new Nascar? Or is this a new lure to Sucker in many more and unsuspecting fans into the stands..

Now this was in the late 40's and early 50's I remember the day he went on vacation for a few days, when my dad brought him home he quit then and there,or at least I never saw any more of those quart jars ....................memories

A roughly $70 million tax break for racetracks is among the incentives packed into the bill's final version.

Current NASCAR

NASCAR is getting some help from the fiscal cliff deal, but are taxpayers really surprised that a debate that went around in circles for weeks resulted in some racetrack funding?

The fiscal cliff bill included an extension of the so-called NASCAR loophole that allows anyone who builds a racetrack to get a slight tax benefit by accelerating the depreciation on that property. In this case, racetracks can deduct more expenses and write down costs over seven years instead of the more typical 15- to 39-year period. It has been spelled out under section 168(i)(15) of the federal tax code since 2004.

International Speedway Corporation (ISC), which was created by NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. to build the racing league's tracks, insists that the loophole also discourages track builders from asking local governments for sales tax increases, hotel tax increases and other public funding typically used to pay for construction of sporting venues.
