Well give me one of the cheap seats --not that one the one for $14.00 ---You see I heard Tony was out back at the shop Sunday sharpening up on his running pattern-- The one on the track silly. Tony wont need no track running shoes because I bet you cant get them within 50 ft of each other(except in a car)
So the stage is being set now for whale of a good show in Hotlanta -- Yeah Baby ! ! !

Think about this now, In you racing career how many wins have you racked up? Ten,twenty five or maybe a hundred ,sounds like a lot. I managed twenty two in my career so far. Now im talking about feature wins. Wonder how many Dale Earnhardt has or even ole DW,some say he was a terror in his day. Now im going to throw a little wrinkle in the quiz, what about mostly on short tracks and most of those are dirt . Jeff probably has a small bag of wins I bet and so has Billy Scott.
Anyone think of a driver that has over a hundred? Five hundred?? Ok here is the kicker, this one driver I know and ran against, A little side step here now,I was in N.Ga one nite with our dirt modified trying to get a grip on this dirt track that was almost like a bowl. It was high banked and sticky as glue till you got out of shape then it was like oil on pavement.
This driver walked over and started talking to my dad while I was out on the track. When I came in he set in to telling me the hows and whats of getting round that bowl. You know what?? It was a no brainer after his pep talk ,and a little work done on the car.
He won that nite with Friday Hassler second and me fifth,but that was as good as winning.
Now back to the story at hand. Bet ya got it pegged on who im talking about right? There is a Write up here on R/R about him by Brandon Reed. You see Buck Simmons has not only a 1,000 feature wins but more just before his passing. The man loved to race and win,not for the money but for the win. OVER 1,000 wins can you believe that?? Does anyone know of another driver massing this many wins in a lifetime on short tracks? The guy I was driving for was Wayne Dawson out of Middle Ga. He would buy a car and bring it home,we would go run it a few times and he would sell it and repeat the process. I guess he made money at it but I got to drive several different cars back then.

Dave,those are great photos, I can remember those good ole days like it was yesterday (almost at least) that ole chevy #80 makes my skin crawl looking at it. I had a ride for a while in a 66 like that ,boy was it big compared to my chevelle. Keep up the good work Dave,my memory is coming back ......................................memories

I understand completely sir theres no feeling like going with someone who loves racing like you and I. My 2 kids are grown now but im doing everything in my power to show my grandson what life was like when we grew up. And trust me he is head over heels in it I took him to Daytona last year and got him his first Nascar license and we toured the infied like pros. He met people that are on a wish list for most kids, but you know what,he talks of R/R more and the people he meets here than any of the today crowd.

Hey Im not taking sides here now but I think we better get used to the gals in racing because they are here to stay. They coming outta the woodwork it seems. I mean even Kellys lil girl is making a name for herself and at a young age too. It might be in Karts right now but who knows whats around the corner

Well I think they got taken to the limit Sat nite because Danica got out and pledged a verbal decree towards a certain driver in a black car with 78 on it. No she didnt throw her helmet at him but if looks and gestures meant anything I believe it was sealed with a kiss or something, want to see it?
