THE PRICE YOU PAY TO RACE THIS DAY ----IN NASCAR

Stock Car Racing History

For starters a driver must have a fire suit and related items to go along with an approved helmet.

Then a Hauns device must be purchased with a fitted seat meeting specs, along with approved seat belts. Now you are almost ready to climb in that beast and go qualify, But did you fill out and pay for your driving license yet??

thats a staggering list to start with, suit and undies along with gloves will cost you over $1000.00,helment over$300.00 , Hauns device is 5 bills and seat will go for over 800.00 form fitted for your derriere of course. Ok now to be able to get on the track,in some else s car thats passed tec you gotta get off of at ;least $3000.00 just for your basic license.

The first license I got was a staggering $75.00 for Nascar back in 63. You better be sure you keep the cookie jar well stocked.. Dave Fulton can probably add to this what I have forgotten. You may have others to add also. Expensive but more fun than anything else I can think of------------------Memories

This is a subject that has been quiet for awhile. Anyone been by the track lately to check on things? I know someone has been by thats a part of R/R...

There is things happening there for the betterment of the future thats been going un-noticed,and its being done out of their pocket.

Maybe this should be addressed by the members here...-------------------------------memories

A different Dale Jr talking after Sat shootout

Current NASCAR

Dale Jr Confident Amid Disaster

Dale Earnhardt Jr had a confident tone even after disaster struck dur in g Saturday nights Budweiser Shootout . The race ended in a crash for Junior.

I like this k in d of rac in g better, Earnhardt said, talk in g about the big pack style of rac in g that Daytona is famous for. At least I know what to expect. I feel like I have a better chance with this style than I did last year for damn sure.

You just hold your damn car where it needs to be and not drive around like an idiot, Dale Jr expla in ed. If you want to drive your car in a straight l in e and be sensible it is possible.

Pack rac in g fits Earnhardt driv in g style better. He is a calculat in g driver when it comes to superspeedway rac in g. Always th in k in g a step ahead.

Earnhardt described how the car drives with NASCARs new aero package designed to elim in ate 2 by 2 tandem rac in g. Theres just a massive clos in g rate, said Earnhardt. If you get bogged down guys can just fly around you.

Earnhardt hopes the Daytona 500 will go a little smoother than the Shootout. Be in g 500 miles guys might use a little better judgment, but I wouldnt count on it. Its a pretty big deal to w in and its go in g to be a lot of guys pretty excited about their prospects of w in n in g it. Still pretty much any car can w in . The lotterys still there for the whole field.

Earnhardt has a fast car. He qualified 3 rd on Sunday afternoon. Next up are the Gatorade Dual 150s.

What do you th in k about this style of rac in g so far?

Portions of above came from Race-Win

THE PRICE OF A QUART

Saturdays ASA race belonged to Larry Macs son UNTIL the last short straightaway. There the car gave its last hurray and ran out of gas. Wonder if could have been planned any different. Was Larry a player in the team?Or was this the age old luck that becomes every racers buddy a few times in their career. Stretching the gas has its problems it seems and now I think all are using the injection system so I dont know if anyone has a stronghold on saving fuel. OR do they, you tell us
