Madera Speedway Introduces Jr. Late Models

A new wrinkle in the youth movement is being provided by Madera Speedway beginning in the 2016 season. The Speedway has announced a new division for next year, the Jr. Late Models for drivers aged 10-16.

The division will compete as an eight race series, and a television deal is in the works, said Madera owner Kenny Shepherd. The concept for the Jr. Late Model Series is something I've thought about since 2009, as I believe a restricted Late Model is a great place for a youngster to hone their skills in a car they can move up with throughout their teenage years. We are proud that we have built a series where talent can shine in the LoanMart Late Model Series, and we intend to do the same for the 10-16 year old crowd with the Jr. Late Model Series.

The rule guidelines lay out a Late Model with several engine options available including: the 602 crate, 604 crate, or any cast iron block wet sump engine. According to the rules a restrictor plate will be utilized on the cars, as well. The competitors machines will weigh anywhere from 2850 pounds to 3035 pounds depending on the engine combination and will race on a Hoosier 8-inch tire. A maximum 58% left side weight is allowed. Only steel shocks will be permitted.

Some wrinkles in the rules include: drivers in the top ten drawing for position in the feature field. Feature races will be 50 laps, split into two 25-lap segments. Teams will be permitted to work on their machines during the midway break.

To become eligible drivers must have prior racing experience, be between the ages of 10-16 and have a release signed by a parent.

could be a new start for some lil tykes 10 to 16

Well, Brian, what did the weekend teach you?

Administrative

Well well well, the the captain or "Legend" as many fans and friends call him seems to have come to the ultimate truth on Carlington, As Carls crew renamed it after the race.

Yes it was a sell out,yes it was a terrific race, and yes it was enjoyed by many of the older generation but may younger years were on hand too shouting.

I kinda got caught up in the later shouting when Carl moved to the front and stayed. He has a pretty good following of the jet set it seems. I did so want to ramble and try to see all I could see but I could only soak in so much. The throwback drivers were almost impossible to get to because of the mob. Tim youdefinitelymissed a blowout at Darlington.. As Carl said He really hopes they put Darlington in the final 10 races because everyone really enjoyed Sundays happenings..

And taking pictures were out of he question the way that place was packed.. BUT I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT........ Memories

A name change at the finish for Carl

Current NASCAR

A race that had a lot of emotion and memories today had a great race from beginning to the end with several players coming to the top 5 to show their hand.. I think Chad needs to hurry and get off his honeymoon or else the 48 is going to spin out on a regular basis. And the straightaway wall got a temp name change to "Carlington" by his crew. And Carl is a happy winner

carledwards
