this forum or that one, which to use

Trivia

After becoming familiar with Racers Reunion I now find that maybe some of us are more partial to one site over the other. The dirt forum is an exciting place because, you dont have a bunch of people trying to run asphalt cars on dirt. They gotta change tires and also you dont see us dirt dobbers over trying to use our special cut slicks on pavement, best way I know of to get up close and personal with the fence. So do you stay here and be one of Robbies Dirt Cowboys or do you cross the border and go bump around or rub fenders with Tim and his cronies. I think I know the answer but I want your opinion------please

Here is a Racetrack I used to operate about 50 years ago.

Hey Jim,I still have my Champion Sidewinder engine with cobalt magnets in it . that was my hobby in the off season in the early to middle 60s. I had a home wound motor that would absolutely fly but had no brakes on it and had to use two six volt lantern batteries in series on brake side to slow that critter down on the big American track --wow you jarred some old cobwebs loose with that photo. Old Timmy the Legend was a rounder too back then the story says but thats good for another story another day.

Billy and Barbara Scott.

General

As I can remember Billy from back in the day im going to have to get him to get in front, that way I may be able to recognize him better because looking him in the face wasnt an option back in the day, man he was a tough customer on the track but now just maybe I can at least get to stand next to him for a few minutes at least. His wife I never met nor have any recognition of her although they say she was a prominent person and didnt share her cab top seat with no one so I will rely on old war stories of the lady but hear Robbie talk she is one heck of a lady---enough said by me at least

to the world

Stock Car Racing History

In racing it is said and been documented that racing was born in Georgia. The hills of north Georgia had many exciting drivers come from the back roads, from a guy named Parks to a guy named Elliott and more are young and on their way. Many are gone but some are still here today spreading the word on how it was.back in the day of working a hard night driving the backroads into fame and little fortune but lots of glory. If you are Georgia bred think back and remember what you can of the past and write it down .

S.T.A.R.S. Radio "Live" from Concord Speedway

General

this is the second one i have listened to on racers reunion---just think --you setting in a tent in Afghanistan tucked down behind dirtbags for security and listening to the local Saturday nite race in Concord. It costs you money to even access a Nascar race with your computer unless you pirate it. Racers Reunion supplies you the means to listen to more radio shows now directed to motorheads with a world full of photos and articles to look and read, all for the price of (N O T H I N G) --Wal-mart cant top that.Times are hard now and folks that are handicapped as to their access to racing but all thats needed is to get on line and with Jerrys show and Jeffs expertise on his shows what more can you ask for, except for world peace.

Hey--- How about running Fuel Injection in the Cup Cars

Current NASCAR

Either I was away from the world or I was in that island where you see the sun set with that pretty lady in the hammock but;2.4 liter V-8's? I didn't read any of that. Guess I better take a closer look.OK, you are right. Fuel Injection is NASCAR's idea.Surely that will increase ticket sales and boost TV ratings. Of course the sponsors will flock to NASCAR now that the cars will be running Fuel Injection.Makes you wonder why it took so long to come up with such a great revenue boosting idea ha.The Mustang and Challenger bodies coming this year in the Nationwide series must have been NASCAR's idea too, since they have all the brains.Oh by the way Chevrolet has a new Camero too, that was Brians idea too I guess. Now explain to me how putting injection systems on the cars will draw more sponsors or put more fans in the stands. The one thing it "will" do is give Nascar a way of controlling the speed of the cars at the big tracks. They could put such a curve in the computer that they could just throw the templates away and let the boys have at it on the cars---Now think about that,a different look for each team, wow back to basics almost like old times. It could almost get an interest back into the business of Racing per say. I know it sounds like im rambling but stop and think about it for a minute, you know what you got for an engine package now put together a car that looks like the car you say you are driving, now wouldnt that be easy on the eyes --think win on Sunday sell on Monday ----My take on the subject now lets hear yours

Open Air at Bristol

Current NASCAR

everyone has one pete now next week martinsville which is in the mecca of carolina va racing --lets see how the turnout there is---but something is up in the background with Nascar--lets see Pete Banchoff said:
Johnny, I watched only a small part of the race, but Nascar racing at the Cup level is in turmoil. It's so bad that the hole Brian France and his ass-ociates have dug is too deep to climb out of. This is almost a burn it to the ground and start over situation. I don't know how you fix it now, Johnny. I thought I had some ideas but without the crowd showing up on race day it will hurt Cup racing bad. Nascar has made bad decision after bad decision and fans are tired of it. Why pad the pockets of these guys with hard earned money when they have no clue what they're doing.

I mentioned in a previous discussion that Bristol is the shining star as far as sellouts and track attendance. They were hurt...imagine what the crowd will look like for Michigan, Indianapolis, Chicago, Pocono and other midwest tracks. Nascar and track officials will be the only fans in the stands.

Just my opinion.
Pete

Open Air at Bristol

Current NASCAR

You look at the race Sunday in Bristol? If so you may have noticed the unusual spacing around the cars.More of there were some spacing in the stands also. The cars were driven as though they were borrowed and needed to be returned clean and neat, kinda.
Seems as though the new ruling have spectators along with drivers unclear as to what is really going on.
True the economy has a little to do with empty seats but also is there concern as to what or when the next move by Nascar will be,Even those clowns on Fox seem to be dancing carefully around something in the air,and no it wasnt the weather.
The drivers put on a good show and even the guy with the funny last name that "Pete" talks of was even trying to pull off a hat trick without Carls help.
All in all I think the race itself was good, lead changes were frequent and there were many different races in the show Sunday, But something is in the air, there is change a coming and somehow the lid has been kept on it but something is in the air.
You got to admit it they cant do much more wrong so cross your fingers and hope this time its the right way.
