A PHOTO SOME MAY HAVE NOT SEEN

Stock Car Racing History

Bobby, did you notice the roll bars in both the cars? Lees car doesnt appear to have a upright or even a loop in the drivers area and Johnnys car sure collapsed on the front left corner like nothing was there for support. If there was a support they surely left the scene . As you said we have come a long way in the safety dept.

A.J. Foyt remains hospitalized

Stock Car Racing History

Ok for all who care and for those that dont here is an update on AJ -- our-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon after undergoing a triple bypass on Nov. 12.

Foyt, who was treated at Baylor-St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, now will continue his recovery at home.

Foyt, who was admitted Nov. 7 with chest pains, developed complications following surgery with his lungs. He was in ICU for 10 days and on a ventilator for eight.

"It's been pretty rough but I guess I slept through the roughest part," Foyt, who will turn 80 in January, said in a release. "I had some problems that most people don't have after open heart surgery so I made my doctors work extra hard but they saved my life. We've turned a corner so everything's pretty good. I've got a long way to go but I'm feeling better every day." See there is a higher power looking over drivers..

A.J. Foyt remains hospitalized

Stock Car Racing History

We may need to talk to the Man in the Great Control Tower for a little help on keeping AJ around for a few more years. You all know he Is a past competitor in Nascar so his presence is still desired by many.

A.J. Foyt remains in a Houston hospital, his IndyCar Series team said today, due to a post-operative complication which has been resolved.

Foyt, who turns 80 on Jan. 16, had triple bypass surgery Nov. 12 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston . The catheterization two days prior showed blockages in several stents from past procedures, most recently in March 2010. He was expected to remain in the hospital until Nov. 17.

"He's getting better," Foyt's son, Larry, told The Indianapolis Star today. "(He's) still in the hospital but improving every day."

Larry Foyt said his father is expected to make a full recovery.

Foyt is IndyCar's all-time winner with seven championships and 67 race wins. He is the only driver to have won the Indianapolis 500 (four times), the Daytona 500 (in 1972), and the 24-hour races in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Le Mans, France.

A SEASON FOR CHANGE

Stock Car Racing History

Categories: Racing , Writings by Kyle Froman

Caraway Speedway Nine years ago Michelle and I walked into a tiny oval in Asheboro, North Carolina to spend a day at the track with a group of complete strangers.

It was an awkward, uncomfortable day in the hills of North Carolina that afternoon. The race cars were different than anything we knew and there was not a familiar face in sight.

Yet strangely, we immediately felt at home.

Nine years ago we set out with a mission to illuminate Christ and perpetuate love in this community of strangers.

We had no idea that nine years later this community of strangers would become our closest and dearest friends. We had no idea the lessons we would be taught about life, community, friendship, love and God through the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour family.

It has been a long and hard nine years.

Michelle, Micah and Kaleb have sacrificed in unbelievable ways as we have served this community. Weve walked through mountains and valleys with our friends over the past nine years. Weve celebrated new life and laid to rest some very dear friends. Weve cheered on new relationships and struggled through broken ones. Weve laughed and weve cried. Weve fought for what is right and licked our wounds when things were wrong.

Kyle Froman and Burt Myers We wouldnt trade a day of the last nine years with our modified racing family.

Relationships like the ones we now hold are only forged by doing life together. Experiencing the highs and the lows together. Embracing the tensions and the conflict together. They are relationships that span time and distance and endure change.

And change does require endurance.

Change is a challenging word. Sometimes change means the unknown. Sometimes change means discomfort. Sometimes change means challenge. Sometimes change means farewell.

Change is inevitable. That is what makes this one of the hardest blog posts I have ever written.

After nine years of pursuing Christ and making Him known in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour the 2015 season will be one of change.

While we are full of excitement about what the future holds, we are also full of sadness because we know it means we wont be with the family we have become a part of on a regular basis anymore.

Over the past nine years weve had other opportunities to move on, but God was not leading us then. In 2009 I was even faced with the prospect of losing one of my other jobs if I continued with the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour communityand I chose you all! I was not willing to move on if it was not God directing me elsewhere.

This pursuit has never been about me, but about obedience to Gods leading.

So this year, when God began to lead us we chose to follow. In 2015 I will begin serving alongside MROs national series Chaplaincy team, serving the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

36885_140017239344897_133582316655056_393987_3036054_n Just as I walked into the modified family 9 years ago, in February I will be walking into Daytona International Speedway with the same empty slate. We are full of anticipation about following God in this community.

I hope you know thisis not goodbye. We have plans to visit a few times during the 2015 season and I look forward to following each of you through your careers. In the near future I will also introduce you to who will be stepping into the NWSMT family next year in our place.

Each and every one of you within the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour community arefamily. We have been through a lot, and I cannot tell you how special each of you are to us.

I am thankful that God allowed us to spend the past nine yearsbecoming friends with you.

In the end, I pray that over the past nine years you have been able to tangibly experience the love of Christ through our time with you all. If you havent come to know Him as your personal Savior I hope that you will sincerely consider doing so.

I love each of you. I am never more than a phone call or email away.

Grace and Peace.

I can feel the stress in this post over his moving but I think his direction is being guided by a divine power. And his powers move in mysterious ways but always for the good..

Cigar Sponsorship Question

Stock Car Racing History

Didnt the Famous Jimmy Mosteller of Have a Tampa fame have his Cigar name on a car in the 70s or am I dreaming. It would probably be in the Bush cars (Sportsman) or maybe it was the Grand National series.

It may have been at Middle Ga Raceway where I saw it or Atlanta because he was all over with his promotions and of course his announcing of the races . This may take a little digging to clarify Jimmy Mosteller In Memoriam

JR is shaping up it seems

Current NASCAR

We have all watched him go from a kid to a grown man with a head on his shoulders. Could it be that he is shaping up to become an Owner in the near future?

He had success this past year in Nationwide as a car owner now I guess a repeat next year would be in order as Chase is supposed to run again next year in Nationwide ? The eye candy may soon be an important addition to the Legacy of JR Motorsports Dale Earnhardt Jr. and girlfriend Amy Reimann pose during the NASCAR Nationwide Series/NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Banquet at Trump National Doral in Doral, Fla. Earnhardt won the 2014 Nationwide Series championship as team owner for 18-year-old driver Chase Elliott.
