CLEARING THE AIR ON SOMETHING -- I THINK,--MAYBE NOT

Trivia

While listening to a rebroadcast of the Goat Rodeo-(I wasnt at home to hear the real thing) Someone said that the last driver for Junie was Rick Mast. I think it was 2002 Junie had something he had always wanted, an all Virginia team , with him as owner,Rick Mast as driver and Dukes Mayo as sponsor. Rick developed a mystery ailment later found to be carbon monoxide poisoning. He had to quit after the 11th race. That left the seat open, Hermie Sadler took over I think but after Pocono Dukes pulled out and left him as sponsor..

But didnt he enter the fall race at Charlotte that same year with a car driven by Jason Hedlesky ? If so wouldnt Jason be the last driver?

I also think he attempted the Daytona 500 in 2003 with Kirk Shelmerdine as driver and again in 2004 with Andy Hillenburg as driver and one more at Pocono with AJ Henriksen in 2004 before hanging his hat up?

Someone clarify this for me because I may be off but then again I love Racing History.

IT A TWO FOR JUNIOR -- Dale Jr that is

Current NASCAR

No he didnt lead all the laps and no he wasnt on the pole but he led the last run of green laps after Brad had a mind slip or tire slip or maybe he was trying to hard but the bottom line is he slowed for an instant and Jr was all over him and into the lead. So thats two for him as far as checker flags this year, he even stuck the second winners flag on his car while grinning. It just may be a great season after all for him...photo from Fox Sports Role reversal: Earnhardt Jr. steals race win at end from Keselowski

Denny is the man on the point

Current NASCAR

Now how long will he stay there, this track has those long curves and someone just may shift gears in a turn and pass.

From the time he was a rookie in 2006 and swept both races from the pole, Denny Hamlin has always loved Pocono Raceway.

Eight years later, through a change in manufacturers, three different generations of race cars, a repave and a reconfiguration on the curbing in the Tunnel Turn, the Virginia native is still pretty sporty at the 2.5-mile triangle of a track.

Friday afternoon, Hamlin won the pole for Sunday's Pocono 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, setting a new track record, the ninth of the season, with a lap of 181.415 miles per hour in his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

It was a great lap for Hamlin, allowing him to capture his second pole of the season. Other than still being fast here, though, not much is the same from when Hamlin dominated as a rookie in 2006.

THE TRUCKS ARE COMING -- THE TRUCKS ARE COMING -- THE TRUCKS ARE COMING

Current NASCAR

Thats right the Trucks are coming back on "D I R T".. Eldora will once again host the trucks next month so get your recliner, chair and pillow fixed ,unless you going to Eldora then get a good seat so you wont miss anything.

NASCAR has tweaked the format for next month's Camping World Truck Series race at Eldora Speedway, where owner points will now be awarded to the top five teams that do not transfer into the main feature.

NASCAR raced on dirt last season for the first time since 1970 when the Truck Series visited the track owned by Tony Stewart in Rossburg, Ohio. The event used heat races to set the 25-truck field, but teams that didn't advance did not receive participation points.

That's changed for the July 23 race. NASCAR also extended the distance of the five heats from eight laps to 10, and a random draw will set the qualifying order instead of practice speeds.

Pit stops will now be optional during competition cautions. They were mandatory last year.

Motor Week LIVE! and RacersReunion win four awards

Stock Car Racing History

Unreal that things are taking off like this, just think it was only a very few years ago when R/R first started under the direction of Jeff Now I dont think there is another Racing induced organization that has the pzazz that you will find here. We even got a stand up Legend that Fox Network Jaws cannot hold a like to, But Tim is to gracious to own up to it .

But all in all Patrick and Jeff deserve all the HooRays and yippees for allowing the world to be able to hear our Racing Heritage along with Patricks up to date news on racing............ ! Long Live Racers Reunion
