THIS POWER STEERING THING

Stock Car Racing History

We have played this scene a time or two on R/R but today at Bristol. Joey was kinda struggling after his power steering went south. There wasnt any power steering in Nascar until Bobby Allison first used it in the late 70s. I think Bobby was the first to use forward steering on a race car. Then bodine used it to some success. But the bottom line was Dale Sr. won at Bristol with no power steering in the late 80s . Point being made that the guys of yesteryear were indeed in shape like no other. I cannot remember my cars being a hand full after they were properly set up. One time I did drive another car that was said to be unsteerable at speed,it was unless you kept it in a gentle slide on the straights but the turns would make your arms burn after a few laps. Dale said it best after winning at Bristol I did it but my arms were asleep after winning with no power steering, but they said he could still raise the trophy.

I guess thats why he was truly known as "The Man"

Now we know power steering is truly for the younger generation ------------------------- memories

ANOTHER WEEKEND FOR THE BUSCH BOYS TO HAVE FUN

Current NASCAR

Looks like Kyle is off to another Wild Thang weekend by rolling through the Nationwide clan. but he usually does a good job on short tracks. Now to see how the Sunday bullfight plays out.

Tony is not up to his old self, bet he is still feeling every shake, rattle and roll the car finds on the track. Sure he says he is A ok but and I do say but because he has a different swagger to his walk and to his face expression especially when he thinks no one is really watching..

Denny is on the pole and I think he surprised himself with that time, he showed that when he pulled back in to the pits . Matt Kenseth is lurking just behind him and he needs the win because he is moving and selling his house on lake Morgan you know.

Those Fords of Penske will surely have a say in who's who up front,at least at the beginning, B U T Marcus Ambrose is looking to carry the Petty Blue machine to victory circle for Richard Sunday so beware of the STP ..

Now Jr is still up in the top 15 to start and who knows he just may bump and run to the top,if his fuel gauge got installed correctly.. JimmiE Johnson is 6th but what a bunch of great cars he has in front of him much less who's marching forward behind him. Ok now lets see who has a different view of the start.. Where are all the noise makers at ? Come on yall lets renew the old fire that was once on here---- OK

For Johnny Mallonee & Tim Leeming - Crunch Time for Sparkle Pony at Bristol

Current NASCAR

Well the color green sure has a way of streaking up the walls and Smoke maybe painted the wrong car green because he rode into the race on a provisional.

The blue car may be the way to go,it sure didnt stand out in a crowd like the mint green car does. Guys seem to be drawn the the bright lights and color, could be the reason for touch and go thats been going on. She is going to have to understand how a touch feels and what to do as a nudge is applied. Is she still getting giddy when someone eases up and rubs her side ? I could go on but then I may be censored by Devin and be called to the beach house............................

A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL MAYBE

An update on Micheal Schumacher

Michael Schumacher is showing "small, encouraging signs" that he may awake from his coma, his agent said Wednesday, more than two months after a ski crash left the Formula One champion with severe head injuries.

Updates since Schumacher's accident have offered few details and limited optimism for the man who once drove the world's fastest cars and motorcycles but was critically injured on a familiar ski slope during a family outing. Wednesday's statement was little different, describing "an extremely intimate and fragile situation" for his family.

"It is very hard to comprehend for all of us that Michael, who had overcome a lot of precarious situations in the past, has been hurt so terribly in such a banal situation," Sabine Kehm, a family representative, wrote in a statement. "We are and remain confident that Michael will pull through and will wake up. There sometimes are small, encouraging signs, but we also know that this is the time to be very patient."

Small signs that physicians are watching for could include fluttering eyelids, or efforts to breathe without a ventilator.

"This doesn't change one's opinion of Schumacher's situation in general. It's still very difficult to predict what his long-term recovery will be like and if he does wake up and comes off the ventilator," said Dr. Tipu Aziz, professor of neurosurgery at Oxford University.

"In all likelihood he will be severely disabled," said Aziz, who has not been involved in treating Schumacher.

Schumacher, known affectionately as Schumi, was hospitalized with severe head injuries after the Dec. 29 ski accident, which split his helmet as he crashed into rocks on the slope at the Meribel ski station in the French Alps.

Doctors put him into a coma to rest his brain and decrease swelling, and they operated to remove blood clots, but some were too deeply embedded.

Neurologists not involved in his treatment say full recovery appears increasingly unlikely, given the coma's duration and the extent of his injuries.

"Every brain injury is different and no two routes to recovery will be the same," said Luke Griggs, a spokesman for Headway, a British brain injury charity. "It is fair to suggest that any patient waking from a three month-long coma will face the prospect of a long and challenging road to recovery, with the eventual outcome uncertain." So folks there is still hope !!

Tires, What would you start the race off with in reference to tire pressure, Now this is on pavement....

And for us old school guys what would you start a race on dirt in reference to tire pressure. This used to be a well kept secret but now its kinda shared --or is it really?

wouldnt an external hookup solve the deal? I mean like a quick disconnect they use to add water, the recirculating lines arent that hard to use.....................!
