This undoubtably has to be one of the toughest announcements I've ever had to make....but this afternoon, we lost a legend - 2003 GRHOF Inductee, Jimmy Mosteller. Jimmy was not only founder of the Hav-A-Tampa dirt series, but he was undoubtably one of the best racing announcers of all time. Jimmy is up in heaven right now, handing out cigars and calling the races of the legends we've lost

Thanks for the responses from everyone...I just haven't been on the internet lately since Jimmy Mosteller passed on. But anyway, thanks for helping me out. I'll get back to Eddie and let him see all this stuff.
BTW, the note on the bottom of the trophy was a handwritten note from Ed.

I'm WAY out of my jurisdiction on this one, but a good friend, Eddie Samples, whose dad was racing legend, Ed Samples, found an old trophy from 1952, but could not find any information on the track itself. According to the note on the bottom of the trophy, the track was located in Saugerties New York.
Any help would be appriciated!

I found this in a related seach on youtube. It looks like it was from this years Eldora race, but I'm not sure. Anyhow....with Tony Stewart driving what looks like an old Mike Head car, he scares the living 'you know what' out of DW! Funniest thing I've seen in a while (or a couple days)....

That was very nice! Rex is one of the nicest guys out there...he not only attends large reunions and functions at Nascar races and whatnot, but he will also attend the small reunion that no one would think a man with his record and popularity would attend, but he's at almost everyone I go to! I was fortunate to meet Rex, I'd say maybe 2007, and from then until the next year, I just saw him and really didn't talk to him. But it wasn't until I done an interview with him at the Moonshine Festival 2009 that I really talked to him for a while and now know him very well. I'm honored to know him, and I'm honored he knows me too!
