Thank you so much for sharing your article highlighting Georgia Tech's long ties to auto racing. Enjoyed it.

Look forward to reading the next two installments.Johnny, a review in the Winston-Salem Journal of Richard Miller's 2013 book, "Bowman Gray Stadium" mentions a 1972 ABC WWS telecast with David Pearson and Bobby Allison in the field. HOWEVER, since the final GN/Cup race was run at BG in 1971, that info can't be correct.
We really enjoyed those trips from the east coast out to Riverside. I guess RC and team had to change travel arrangements, since they always booked an 11:00 pm Sunday night redeye flight out of L.A. back to the east coast. In 1983, Bud Moore continued to use the '82 shoebox Thunderbird on the road courses and short tracks as seen in Scott's photo of Earnhardt in the #15 ahead of Richmond's #27 Raymond Beadle car. I suspect that a heavy acquaintance with Mr. Daniels and Mr. Beam contributed to the lack of swimtrunks by RC's North Carolina based team!😃

In December 1982, I purchased a $40 Polaroid camera at a Service Merchandise store in Greensboro, NC. Inside the camera box was a coupon from Delta Airlines for a free accompanying round trip flight anywhere in their system. So, in June 1983, my wife, Joyce accompanied me on her first trip to California thanks to the camera purchase. The photo below is of the two of us on race day morning at Riverside on June 5, 1983.
