Brad Daugherty's Comment About Brad Kesolowski's Championship

Current NASCAR

Happy for Brad. Great for the sport. Didn't hear any of the post-race commentary. Heard too much pre-race and during the race commentary. Don't know where they found that little gal Nicole Briscoe, but if I'd heard her say just one more time after someone brought up various racing milestones, "I don't know, I wasn't born yet" - I was gonna ask my visiting daughter to Tweet ESPN and tell them to quit robbing the cradle and put someone in their analysis booth who knows something about racing.

On top of that I had to endure FOX Network's Chris Myers doing our pathetic Carolina Panthers NFL telecast. At least he wasn't paired with DW.

New look ready for 2013 Sprint Cup car

Sixth generation car to feature driver's last name on the windshield
By Official NASCAR Release
November 17, 2012 2:48 PM, EST

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla . -- NASCAR unveiled a new look for the 2013 Sprint Cup Series car on Saturday, an integral and exciting step in the rollout process of the sixth generation race car.

"These changes are an extension of the unprecedented collaboration with the auto manufacturers on the 2013 car, great industry feedback and our focus on increasing fan affinity as part of NASCAR's Industry Action Plan," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations, who introduced the new design at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The sixth generation car look will debut with the opening of the 2013 Speedweeks, highlighted by the 55th running of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Among the updates:

* The driver's last name featured on the windshield;

* Sponsor decals will not be permitted on the headlights and taillights, two key distinguishing characteristics of the auto manufacturers' brand;

* Car numbers will be moved from the lights to the front and rear bumpers;

* A single sponsor logo will be permitted on the roof under the number;

* Team sponsor decals will be permitted to extend past the front edge of the b-post;

* "Step and repeat" / background patterns will be permitted on the sides of the car;

* Due to the slightly smaller car, the car number will be reduced by 10% and the contingency decals will be reduced to 26 square inches.

CAMPING WORLD TRUCKS TO RUN GREENVILLE-PICKENS IN 2013

Administrative

One of my favorite venues in the early years of the Truck Series was when they went to Portland, Oregon's half-mile in 1996. The speedway is famous for its blackberry bushes in turns 3-4. Wrecker drivers used to not want to get cars out of that area because of all the thornes, lol!

Note, there was a Petty Enterprises Dodge truck on the pole!

Win, win, win! All great news.

Now, let's get the trucks off Daytona and the other superspeedways and add more top tier weekly tracks like South Boston to the Truck schedule and give weekly "home track" fans a great visiting touring series.

New Smyrna Edges Homestead as Top Daytona Paper Racing Story

Local and Regional Short Track Racing

In 1985, we ran a 7-Eleven sponsored Ford T-bird for Derrike Cope out of Dave Fuge's shop in Washington State at New Smyrna's World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. Lots of cars, lots of talent and lots of COLD! I remember 55 gallon drums with fires througout the infield. I saw some great racing.
