FYI:
The Model Cities Program was an element of U.S. President Lyndon Johnson's Great Society and War on Poverty . In 1966, new legislation led to the more than 150 five-year-long, Model Cities experiments to develop new antipoverty programs and alternative forms of municipal government. The ambitious federal urban aid program succeeded in fostering a new generation of mostly black urban leaders. However, the nation moved to the right after the urban riots of the late 1960s. This led to a shift in goals to bricks and mortar housing and building projects. The program ended in 1974.
Yep, it was cooking at the end. Hats off, too, to Ryan Blaney in the #21. Great run for a rookie.
Wonder how many times Whitey and Blackie finished in adjoining positions?
They held "The Big One" in the Talladega infield Friday night... a barbecue sauce wrestling contest.
Is that Danica I see trying out for a new career?
I watched that live. It was a vicious hit. Thank goodness SAFER Barrier was in place or it could have been much worse.
I always thought 14th place finisher, Arden Mounts of Gilbert, West Virginia had an interesting name. It would seem to me that when the P.A. announcer would call his name, you'd expect him to be getting on a horse.
The photo below of Arden Mounts posed with his #18 Hudson was taken at Charlotte Speedway on May 1, 1955.
That fella driving the Star City Body Shop special at Daytona in 1971 sure don't sound like Jabe. When he tries to speak Christiansburgese, it comes out sounding kinda Hispanic.
And if Bruce would bring the Kardashians with him, Brian could just turn NASCAR into one huge reality show and throw all the debris cautions he wants.
