Dover - good karma for RPM?

Current NASCAR

Let's hope the karma is terrific!

In the early 80s after one of those draining Dover 500 mile races on the asphalt, I (and the rental car) got turnwed around somehow trying to get to my Philly airport hotel to check in to my overnite hotel before my morning flight. I wound up at dark in a Philly neighborhoodall alone that made Rocky's look like the Country Club Estates. I was rather scared. Fore a year or two we were able to fly in to Wilmington, which was a little closer and a lot safer, lol. Enjoy your trip. A lot of us would liker to see that 43 in victory lane again.

State Trooper Shot in Chase by Killer Takes New Job as Ops Director at Martinsville

General

An interesting item from today's Richmond paper:

State trooper shot in chase takes new job at Martinsville Speedway

By: ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: September 28, 2011

MARTINSVILLE A Virginia State Police sergeant wounded in a Memorial Day chase has taken a new job at the Martinsville Speedway.

The speedway says 36-year-old Matthew Brannock has been hired as its first full-time director of operations. Brannock began his new job Monday.

The 12-year State Police veteran was shot while pursuing former Franklin County deputy Jonathan Agee after Agee's ex-wife was killed in Roanoke. Agee is charged with fatally shooting his ex-wife and wounding Brannock.

Brannock said he's been around racing since he was a child and remains a NASCAR fan. He grew up in Ridgeway, less than 2 miles from the speedway.

He said the speedway job was an opportunity from God and he wasn't going to pass on it.

Anyone attend any of these Petty wins?

Stock Car Racing History

Was at the Rockingham wins, Martinsville and Charlotte in 1983. Stayed in the CMS press box until late in the night as Bill France, Jr. went back and forth from the NASCAR control booth to the garage where Richard's winning car had been impounded. France finally came to the press box in person to deliver NASCAR's decision that the win would stand and explain what had been found in post race inspection. It was a very long night and very sad one that pretty well ended the Richard / Maurice pairing.
