Elliott Starts Directly Behind Kyle 2Nite @ Bristol Nationwide

General

That sure turned into a non-story when the green dropped, didn't it?

Elliott Starts Directly Behind Kyle 2Nite @ Bristol Nationwide

General

Guess we'll all be checking out the first lap or two tonight to see if 3rd place starter, Elliott Sadler gives 1st place starter, Kyle Busch any assistance getting into the corners at Bristol's Nationwide race!

NASCAR's Rule Changed?

General

yes, yes, and yes....

bet you're right on one point... there must have been at least one popular driver who couldn't secure a license in any state

NASCAR's Rule Changed?

General

Yes, PK... They DEFINITELY DID REQUIRE a valid state drivers license at one time. I know what I filled in on my NASCAR competitor's app back in the day. If the link works, you can check out this page from the january 1970 issue of Popular Mechanics that lists requirements for competitor's license in various series:

NASCAR's Rule Changed?

General

Good question that I don't know the answer to. I remember in the late 60s having to fill in driver license info on a NASCAR application.

What'd They Pay that Bristol Scoreboard Guy?

General

It wasn't long ago that most tracks still had someone on a catwalk who manually changed the numbers on the track scoreboard. Wonder what they paid this guy at Bristol in 1963 as he has Fireball Roberts get up close and personal while Major Melton keeps on trucking?

Looks like Golden Boy and King were running 1-2 in this 1963 Bristol shot by an unidentified photog posted on the H.A.M.B. racing board.
