SPECIAL TICKET OFFER FOR NEXT RACE AT BRISTOL

Current NASCAR

For a track that usually sold out well over 100,000 seats, it was obvious from watching today's Bristol race that attendance has just about hit bottom. Television ratings fall like rain drops in a thunderstorm and track attendance is less than the number of pit crew and race team members in the pits. This is the pathetic state of Brian France's NASCAR.

It has just been announced that, for the next race, Bristol will offer free tickets to any fans weighing in excess of 600 pounds in an effort to make the stands appear fuller than they were today. So start eating, ladies and gentlemen. Buy out all the sweets and fat products and your local Food City and you can enjoy the night race at Bristol for free!

For anyone who perhaps thinks this is a negative comment towards NASCAR, it is simply the truth. All but the part about the free tickets for the 600 pounds plus folks. But who knows, after reading my post, they may just use that criteria.

More Frank Warren

Stock Car Racing History

As many of you know, we had Frank Warren as a special guest on "Racing Through History" on Tuesday, April 12th. Frank indicated at the time that he would be willing to do another show as he hasmany more stories to tell. We will have him back again in a couple months for sure, as my e-mails in response to his appearance were many and all very much in favor of getting him back really soon.

In the meantime, I need to make you aware that you can own your own DVD entitled "Racing Independent Frank Warren in his own words". I own this DVD and have watched it several times, learning something new each time. If you would like to own one for yourself, please contact Debbie Glass at debbieglass2009@yahoo.com or call her at 706-556-9382 and leave a message so she can call you back. If you pick them up directly from Debbie, the cost is $20.00. To have the DVD mailed to you, the cost is $24.00. This is a great DVD to present the independents side of racing in the 1960s and 1970s, and is well presented by Frank himself. If you're into the good ole days for racing, I recommend this video highly.

Tim

A challenge to RR members

Stock Car Racing History

Good idea Chase. I just gave Jack Walker about 3 years worth of Southern Motor Racing and Southern Motorsports Journal from 1963 through '66. Hopefully he will use some of that material as you suggest. I'll look around at what I have left around here and see what I might can find.

Dave, your sign is hanging on the wall here in the Lair. I don't think I'm ready to part with it quite yet. As for what to call the Legendtorial, how about "Fulton's Famous Facts"!!! I think that will go over quite well. So glad to have you up and about and taking time to read and comment on the site. You have been dearly missed my friend. As soon as you're able, we need to plan another outing to some attraction up that way. Take care.

Dennis, I sincerely appreciate your comment. It's the history of the wonderful men and women who are truly legends in the sport I want to make sure is never lost. Having Frank Warren on last night was a thrill for me from all the memories I have of watching him race that Dodge. I just love to hear the stories. When I call these folks about being on the show, I always tell them it is not an "interview", it is their chance to tell the racing stories from those days I treasure in my heart and memory. Not one has disappointed me yet. Thanks again for your comment and you take care of things in Richmond!!!!

You surely will. Only problem now is that Jeff is trying to get me to re-grow that beard in the picture TMC Chase posted above. I have to admit it's tempting with the price of razor blades these days. Thanks, Frank!!!
