Well put Jim, I was asked many times why I sometimes drove harder than others. It was always determined byhow much extra money we had at the time. lol....

Damn, I am irked about answering a post and after typing 3 or 4 paragraphs the page cycles and the content I typed is lost....lol
I like anything about Fonda and or Bob Welborn, the No.49 convertible
Not real sure if its the same Fred harb, but there's an 83 yr.old fellow in High Point listed as owning an Auto Body Shop. Maybe someone from over in that area can drop in and ask if its the same Fred Harb and ask the Door question..lol....
Dave, I think the Krispy Kreme you are speaking of moved a bit closer to the Speedway. lol...Its now at International Speedway Blvd. and Nova Road in Daytona....Followed your trail out to the track would be my guess.
Bobby, you are so right. I knew many, many pilots in my Air Force days and private pilots later and never met one that wasn't confident in his or her ability. I walked away from one that could have been much worse and to top it off it was witnessed by my wife and young son. I'm sorry about the loss of your father. My condolences to you.
I was speaking with Ray Fox recently and we were discussing the World 600 race in 1961 which was won by David Pearson/Ray Fox and happenedto be the first race for Ray and David as ateam. Also happenedon Rays 44th birthday, May 28th. Ray mentioned to me that Julian Petty owned the 5th place car driven by Jim Paschal. I'll do some digging and see if I can find a picture of that day. Should be one out there somewhere for a top 5 car.
James, If you cant find a definite answer I would say the sign is 30 in high by 42 in wide. The fellow holding the sign looks to be of average height of 5'7-5'9. My wife is 5'8 and I had her hold her arms up at a 45 degree angle and measured between her hands and got the 42 in. The sign looks to be a 3/4 ratio between width and height.
fantastic photo Dave, Thanks. three great guys....
why the name tags???? lol. IF they were the only ones allowed in there poor Jeff would have sat in the bleachers and consoled himself with a case from Chase.....
