Dave, I know Mr. Fox drove the # 5 1960 Dodge in Sept. 1962 at N. Wilk. for Bobby Waddell. He only got in a couple laps before breaking a transmission. Maybe this info will trigger someones memory.
really cool stuff Dave. I tried last year to find out more about this interesting man but came up blank. . I never heard back from Mr Smith who worked for the Sentinel and raced a Camaro at Speedworld.
Dave, Wow! What an interesting lead in to this story. You constantly amaze me my friend with your memory and contacts. I dont believe Ms. Jemele Hill still works for the Sentinel but I may follow up with Steven Cole Smith who was the Sentinel Automotive Writer and see if they have any other info on this family.
Me thinks he is saying...." I Cant believe it... I showed Gilder the move over flag and he ignored it, Then I black flagged him and he gave ME the BIRD salute. I have to sit down.....
You called Pkl A WHAT???? And you're still breathing.....
Go to have lunch in Port Orange 2 years ago with Dutch when he came down for a visit and heard a ton of great dirt stories. He was a great one on any surface....
One of, if not the most impressive dirt show I ever witnessed was Tony stewart at Knoxville when he borrowed a car he had never driven and finished second. Never lifted and ran the top side and was on the edge for every lap.Hate to give my vote for one race but I will......
Not an easy decision by any means. In my opinion someone in the family should go visit the Darlington HOF and see if its being kept up to standards. Also get in writing that they understand this is a loan from the family and not to be loaned elsewhere or sold. This is an important part of our past and needs to be handled properly. Getting opinions from folks who have great intentions but hasn't been to either HOF is taking a chance.
Dave, I do remember that 1998 fiasco with Don Johnson as emcee. In my opinion that was the start of the down hill shows. Please find that photo cause it is as you said ....Priceless.
