FLYING LESSONS --FUEL MILEAGE -- REBIRTH OF SPECIAL NUMBERS and more

Current NASCAR

At the very least they have to go to 283 cubic inches on the speedways. They've run smaller engines on the big tracks before. it would slow them down and improve the racing. I'd like to see them raise the ground clearance too but I don't know if that would make the new cars more likely to fly. The cars were going faster 45 years ago and we didn't have this problem, so it should be fixable. Actual bodies-in-white would probably help.

I didn't even know Davey's number was missing. It was around as recently as 2009. It's been more than twenty years, this sanctification of numbers has got to stop. That was Lorenzen's & Yarborough's number as much as it was Allison's. Buddy Baker too. It was Kenny Irwin's number after Davey, does his family get a say in this?

Our Ambassador Jimmy Johnson had a serious accident today

General

Sorry to hear that. Ice doesn't get any slipperier as we get older, but our reaction time gets worse. The fall alone could have laid him up for a couple of months. To cut his hand is almost as bad. I hope that he didn't catch any muscles or tendons. I don't respond to Jimmy very often but I appreciate what he does for us.

Racing History Minute - 1974 Daytona 500

Stock Car Racing History

Brad Keselowski reputedly is against NASCAR doing tests for concussion after an impact. He should be reminded that Donohue walked away from his accident with no apparent injuries. He went to the hospital several hours later because of a severe headache and died the next day. You can bet that Brad's boss, Roger Penske, is not going to let him weasel out of any testing.

FOUND THIS ABOUT THE" DAY"

Current NASCAR

That's one of the better paint jobs that I've seen on Junior's cars.

CHEVY IMPALA OWNERS CAN RELAX

Current NASCAR

Before we jump to any conclusions, where was Juan Montoya when the pace car burst into flame?

CHEVY IMPALA OWNERS CAN RELAX

Current NASCAR

Considering that Johnny doesn't know it wasn't an Impala, and that the SS is manufactured in Australia, I'd say that Detroit has already lost.

But I'm completely onboard with the theory that Brian & the Sprint girls were hiding out, smoking a blunt in the back seat just before the pace car hit the track though.

I'm real happy that when the press went back to the King on Media Day, he said "Yeah, I said it...I meant it...and I'm am happy to see all you fools dancing around with the story because it puts NASCAR in the news and that puts money in my pocket".

AND TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARENT OR ARE A DANICA FAN

Current NASCAR

A couple of the drivers have in-car cameras but Danica has a webcam.

A VALENTINES E MAIL TO RACERS REUNION FROM DANICA

Current NASCAR

I detect a hint of a mustache in that photo, and some razor stubble. Mebbe she's one of them transvestibules. She's got pretty hair. Just like Arie Luyendyk. There's a reason why they're selling that car 2 for $100 and it's not because of Danica. It's because they've chosen the two most incompatible colors for the paint job. Should have gotten sponsorship from Good & Fruity candy.

Sad News in Daytona

Stock Car Racing History

Why was Teague banned? Running with an un-approved sanctioning body? Aside from Jeremy Mayfield, who was the last person that NASCAR banned? I know about Curtis Turner and Tim Flock, but it seems unlikely that NASCAR has been able to resist flexing their muscles since then, and they didn't get any satisfaction at Talladega in 1969.

The King speaks bluntly.......

Stock Car Racing History

I disagree. She's on a team with good cars and management. She's excellent at saving the car. Mechanically that is, she still runs into a lot of things. Put those things together at Daytona or Talledaga and she has a chance. I agree with Chase that Petty's own drivers are nothing to crow about and think that his Fords are worse than SHR's Chevys.Like many in the series, in a good car, Danica is a solid mid-pack driver that can rack up a few top ten finishes. The problem that everyone has with her is that she's over-promoted. Coming off years of over-promotion for Junior, there's a backlash against Danica that you don't have against most mid-level drivers.I have a strong feeling that she won't hang around if she doesn't win a race this year. She'll run 2015, because NBC wants her viewers and she'll want to make it look like she's not running away. I doubt that she wants to be a parent, but if she says she does then it will allow her to sneak away quietly.I think it's time for Richard to walk away too. He's my favorite and it would be difficult to watch a race without the 43, but we've already lost Petty blue and may as well go all the way. It;'s been thirty years since that name was important. It's going to end sometime so it's best to pick your moment. If I were him, I'd make next year's Daytona 500 the last race for the team. Put a HUGE engine in the #43, paint the car blue, and win the race. I guarantee that NASCAR will not say a word. Brian would be selling used cars if it weren't for the Petty family.
