July 18 - This day in Petty history

1958 - Richard Petty's first career NASCAR Grand National race at Canadian Exposition Stadium, Toronto, Ontario in a #142 Oldsmobile. Starts 7th - Finishes 17th. Lee wins the race. Rex White wins the pole & finishes 7th in a Julian Petty-owned Chevrolet.


1959 - Richard wins a 200-lap convertible race at Columbia (SC) Speedway - his first win as a professional race car driver.

1971 - Richard starts 2nd and wins the Northern 300 at Trenton NJ. (Victory Lane photo taken by RR member Brian Hauck .)
