October 7 - This day in Petty history 10/07/51 - Lee finishes 5th in a 150 lapper at Occoneechee Speedway, Hillsboro, NC.10/07/56 - Lee finishes 9th in a 200 lap race at Newport (TN) Speedway - home of L.D. Ottinger.10/07/73 - Richard finishes 2nd to Cale Yarborough in the National 500 at Charlotte.10/07/90 - Kyle finishes 4th in the SABCO Peak Pontiac in the Mello Yello 500 at Charlotte. Richard finishes 20th.10/07/79 - Richard finishes 4th in the National 500 at Charlotte. Kyle finishes 18th in a hand-me-down STP Dodge Magnum in his first start at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
