Larry Frank NASCAR sold him short...twice. Questionable scoring procedures cost him the chance to be applauded by a large crowd when he should have received the "Southern 500" trophy immediately after the 1962 race. Then, in 2002 when it was suggested that NASCAR symbolically re-present the award before the 40th anniversary of their screw-up they refused because (and they wouldn't put it that colorful way) "It's something that happened so many years ago and isn't relevant today"...or words to that effect. But,they were wrong. We who knew and felt a strong attachment to Larry for his service in the USMC, and his skills in the sport and his patriotism will always honor his memory.Semper Fi, Oooh Raahhh and Rest in Peace Larry Frank.
