The Greek in 1963 -- HELP!!

Hello!

I'm in the process of appraising Ron Johnson's beautiful re-creation of "CHIZLER V". The car was completed in late 1962 - witha shorty body - by Rod Stuckey. It was to ahve had its "national" debut at the AHRA Winters with "the Greek" up but tragedy struck. On the way out to Phoenix with a spare engine, Don Maynard - the Greek's resident motor and tuning guru - was killed in a freeway accident riding along with Ken Hirata and Phil Hobbs who were bringing their AA/GD to the same event. Upn hearing that new, the Greek left.

Stuckey drove the car to Low E.t. and Top Speed of the meet.

Two weeks later, the Greek himself drove CHIZLER V to Low E.T. of the March Meet at 7.99.

He won Top Fuel at the 1963 World Series at Cordova with the car.

Later that year he took the Drag News "Standard 1320" Top Fuel #1 spot from Art Malone.

MY PROBLEM IS THIS ....

There's this big whole in my info concerning the time period between the March Meet and the World Series (AUGUST).I know he did alot of match-racing, ran independant events and widely toured. can you help me fill-in the blanks?

Thank you,

Jon Lundberg, VODR (ret)

Have you read Declarations of Stock Car Independents?

These stories are virtually unedited! Just as they were told to author, Perry Allen Wood. I enjoyed them all.
