GOOD OLD DAYS SERIES

RULE BOOK

GOOD OLD DAYS SERIES HEREAFTER CALLED G.O.D.S HAS COME BY THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS TO PROVIDE ORDERLY CONDUCT AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE RACING FAN AS WELL AS THE COMPETITORS AND TO REDUCE THE EVER PRESENT RISK OF INJURY TO PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS AND OFFICIALS ALIKE.

FOR G.O.D.S. AND EVERYONE TO PROSPER WE STRONGLY URGE EVERYONE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES AS A GUIDELINE AND THE OFFICIALS SHALL USE FAIR JUDGEMENT FOR THERE ENFORCEMENT. IT WILL BE THE OBLIGATION OF EACH COMPETITOR THAT HIS/HER CONDUCT AND EQUIPMENT COMPLY WITH THE RULES SETFORTH BY G.O.D.S.. HOWEVER THESE RULES ARE ONLY A GUIDELINE AND IN NO WAY GUARANTEE ANYONE AGAINST INJURY OR DEATH BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER SUCH EVENTS PUT ON BY G.O.D.S.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS SERIES WAS FORMED TO PROVIDE RACING ENTERTAINMENT AS IT WAS BACK IN THE DAY. G.O.D.S WILL RACE STOCK APPEARING AMERICAN CARS MODEL YEARS 1937-1989. THE CAR BODYS MUST BE STOCK APPEARING AS THEY WERE BACK IN THE EARLY DAYS OF RACING. THERE WILL BE NO COMPACTS OR OTHER NON AMERICAN BUILT BRANDS ALLOWED. NO EXCEPTIONS. THE CARS MUST PASS ALL OF G.O.D.S SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND DECLARED LEGAL BY THE G.O.D.S. CHIEF PIT STEWARD BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO COMPETE..

NO INTOXICATING LIQUORS OR CONTROLED SUBSTANCES ARE TO BE CONSUMED BEFORE OR DURING THE RACE EVENT.

THE EVENT MAY HAVE EXTRA-ORDINARY CONDITIONS AND THEREFORE MAY BE SUBJECT TO SPECIAL RULINGS ON ANY GIVEN RACE NIGHT.

G.O.D.S. OFFICIALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR ALLOW THE ENTRY OF ANY CAR OR DRIVER.

ALL DRIVERS AND CREW MEMBERS SHALL APPEAR AT THE TRACK WITH A NEAT AND CLEAN APPEARANCE USING THE UTMOST SHOWMANSHIP AT ALL TIMES. THE DRIVER ASSUMES THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACTIONS OF HIS/HER CREW.

BEFORE ENTERING THE PIT AREA EVERYONE MUST SIGN A RELEASE AND WAVER OF LIABILTY FORM.

ALL COMPETITORS ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITES FOR REPORTING AND PAYING TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES ANY TAXES OR PREMIUMS HE/SHE MAY RECEIVE AS A RESULT OF THEIR INVOLVEMENT WITH G.O.D.S.

G.O.D.S. OFFICIALS MUST BE NOTIFIED OF CHANGE OF DRIVERS PRIOR TO THE DRIVER CHANGE.

DRIVERS, OWNERS, MECHANICS SHALL HAVE NO CLAIMS AGAINST OR CAUSE OF ACTION FOR DAMAGES, EXPENSES OR OTHERWISE AGAINST G.O.D.S. ITS OFFICIALS OR PROMOTORS BY REASON OF DIS- QUALIFICATION OR DAMAGES TO EITHER CAR, DRIVER, OR CREW.

THE INTERPRETATION OF RULES PERTAINING TO THE EVENT BY G.O.D.S. OFFICIALS SHALL BE FINAL AND NOT SUBJECT TO PROTEST.

ALL DRIVERS, CREW, AND PIT SPECTATORS MUST SIGN IN AT THE PIT GATE ENTRANCE LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST END OF THE FAIRGROUNDS. THE DRIVER WILL GET STAMPED (DRIVER), THE CREW MEMBER WILL BE STAMPED (CREW) AND THE SPECTATOR WILL BE STAMPED (PITS). ANYONE CAUGHT IN THE PIT AREA WITHOUT ONE OF THESE STAMPS WILL BE ESCORTED OFF THE PROPERTY BY SECURITY.

THERE IS AN AREA CALLED THE RED/HOT ZONE SURROUNDING THE RACE TRACK THAT IS OFF LIMITS TO EVERYONE EXCEPT TRAINED FIRST RESPONDER PERSONAL AND OTHER SELECTED G.O.D.S. OFFICIALS. ANY CAR MAY BE SAFETY OR MECHANICALLY INSPECTED BY A G.O.D.S. OFFICIAL AT ANYTIME.

VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS

  1. STOCK APPEARING BODY FROM 1937-1989. THE TOP, HOOD, TRUNK, QUARTER PANELS AND FENDERS MUST BE ORIGINAL SHEET METAL OR A GOOD COPY OF THE FACTORY SHEET METAL. THE DOOR SKINS CAN BE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND ALSO MUST BE A GOOD COPY OF THE ORIGINAL. THE NOSE AND REAR EXTENTIONS, SPOLIERS AND HOOD SCOOPS CAN BE FIBERGLASS OR AFTER MARKET (RUBBER) IF THEY APPEAR STOCK. SPOLIERS MUST NOT EXCEED 8 TALL. SPOLIERS CAN BE MADE FROM FIBERGLASS, SHEET METAL OR ALUMINUM. (SEE EXAMPLE ILLUSTRATION).
  2. FENDER WELLS MAY BE CUT OUT FOR TIRE CLEARENCE. NO WIDE FENDER FLARES.
  3. NO SECTIONED, CHOPPED, WIDENING OR ALTERING THE BODY IN ANY WAY OTHER THEN MAKING A 4-DOOR BODY A 2-DOOR. IT MUST APPEAR STOCK OR IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION.
  4. CAMAROS AND MUSTANGS ARE ALLOWED.
  5. NO SHARP EDGES STICKING OUT FROM THE BODY OR NERF BARS.
  6. FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE REQUIRED. THEY MUST BE TIED INTO THE BODY ON THE ENDS AND ALSO MUST APPEAR STOCK. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO WELD OVER RYDER BARS TO THEM WITHIN REASON.
  7. NERF BARS ARE ALLOWED BUT MUST BE REASONABLE.
  8. GRILLES AND OR SCREEN MESH REQUIRED.
  9. HOOD SCOOPS WILL BE ALLOWED BUT SHOULD NOT BLOCK THE DRIVERS VISION.
  10. ALL GLASS MUST BE REMOVED EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ALL CARS MUST HAVE SOME TYPE OF WINDSHIELD OR ROCK SCREEN.
  11. ROLL BARS ARE MANDATORY
    1. A MINIMUM OF 3 DOOR BARS IN THE DRIVERS DOOR
    2. A MINIMUM OF 2 DOOR BARS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR.
    3. A MINIMUM OF 4 BARS OVERHEAD
    4. FRAME TUBING AND ROLL CAGES MUST MEET OR EXCEED REASONABLE SPECIFICATIONS FOR SIZE WEIGHT AND STRENGTH. ROLL CAGES MUST BE SECURELY WELDED TO THE FRAME. NO EXHAUST PIPE ALLOWED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROLL CAGE.
    5. THE CAR BODY MUST BE CLEAN AND PAINTED EVERY WEEK OR IT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE. WE OWE IT TO OUR FANS TO PUT A PRODUCT ON THE TRACK THAT LOOKS GOOD AND PROFESSIONAL.
    6. NUMBERS MUST BE LEGIBLE AND AT LEAST 18 TALL OR MORE. THERE MUST BE A SMALL NUMBER ON THE FRONT NOSE. TO ASSIST OFFICIALS WITH RACE LINE UPS. An 18NUMBER OR MORE MUST BE ON BOTH SIDES AND THE TOP FACING THE GRANSTANDS.
    7. ANY CHASSIS IS ALLOWED AS LONG AS IT IS DECLARED SAFE BY OUR SAFETY OFFICIALS AND MEETS ALL OTHER G.O.D.S. REQUIREMENTS. THE TIRES MUST FIT THE WHEEL BASE OF THE BODY BEING USED. (THE TIRES MAY NOT STICK OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL OR INSIDE THE WHEEL WELL MORE THEN 5 INCHES.
    8. RACING GAS OR UNLEADED GAS ONLY.
    9. NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED
    10. NO NITROUS SYSTEMS ALLOWED
    11. ANY MAKE OR MODEL ENGINE ALLOWED AND MIXING OF MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR AND ENGINE COMBINATIONS ALLOWED.
    12. ENGINES MUST HAVE NO LESS THEN 6 CYLS AND NO MORE THEN 8 CYLS. ANY SIZE.
    13. CARS ALL MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH AN ENGINE MOUNTED STARTER IN WORKING ORDER AT ALL TIMES.
    14. FENDERS MUST BE SECURED (WELDED OR BOLTED).
    15. NO CARS WILL BE ALLOWED TO RUN IN-OUT BOXES FORWARD AND REVERSE GEARS MUST WORK.
    16. ANY TYPE REAR END ALLOWED AND ANY TYPE SHOCKS.
    17. ANY TIRE MAY BE USED BUT MUST NOT STICK OUT OF THE FENDER WELLS MORE THEN 5. WE RECOMMEND THE REAR TIRES ARE PROTECTED BY NURF BARS TO AVOID CLIMBING THEM AND CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE WILL BE A TOTAL WIDTH MEASUREMENT FROM OUTSIDE TIRE TO OUTSIDE TIRE DETERMINED AFTER WE RESEARCH ALL OPTIONS.

VEHICLE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  1. BRAKES: HYDRAULIC DRUM OR DISC WITH ALL FOUR WHEELS WORKING ALLOWED. NO MECHANICAL STYLE BRAKES ALLOWED.
  2. ALL DRIVELINES MUST HAVE A SAFETY HOOP. RECOMMENDED THAT ALL DRIVE SHAFTS BE PAINTED WHITE.
  3. HOODS AND TRUNK LIDS MUST BE SECURELY FASTENED DOWN.
  4. IT IS RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE RUNNING A MINI-CLUTCH TO HAVE AN EXPLOSION PROOF OR STEEL BELL HOUSING.
  5. STEERING OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED, EXCEPT FOR CHAIN GEAR BOXES.
  6. FRONT AND REAR FIREWALLS MUST BE STEEL AND FREE OF ANY EXTRA HOLES.
  7. ALL SEAT AND SEAT TRACKS MUST BE WELDED OR BOLTED TO FRAME OF THE CAR.
  8. ALL CARS MUST CARRY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON BOARD AND WITHIN REACH OF THE DRIVER FROM HIS SEAT POSITION.
  9. REAR VIEW MIRRORS ALLOWED.
  10. NO ALUMINUM DRIVESHAFTS WILL BE ALLOWED.
  11. ALL STEERING PIVOT POINTS WILL BE CHECKED FOR WEAR AND TO BE SURE OF SAFETY WIRE OR COTTER PINS ARE IN PLACE.
  12. SINCE MANY DIFFERENT HUBS, SPINDLES, WHEEL BEARINGS, SHOCKS SHACKLES WILL BE USED THEY WILL BE CHECKED AS TO THERE SAFETY LIMITS.
  13. SAFETY FUEL CELLS ARE MANDATORY. THEY CAN BE ANY SIZE AND MUST BE SECURLEY FASTENED. ALL FUEL LINES NEED TO BE RUN AND ATTATCHED PROPERLY. 250 PSI TYPE OR METAL.
  14. A BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH MUST BE INSTALLED BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT ALLOWING FIRST RESPONDER PERSONAL EASY ACCESS SO POWER CAN BE SHUT OFF IN THE CASE OF A CRASH.
  15. ALL CARS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE AT LEAST TWO THROTTLE RETURN SPRINGS HOOKED TO THE CARBURATOR REGARDLESS OF LINKAGE.
  16. BATTERY: 6 OR 12 VOTE BATTERIES ARE OK. NO BATTERY WILL BE ALLOWED IN DRIVERS COMPARTMENT REGARDLESS OF ITS ORIGINAL PLACEMENT IN ITS CONSTRUCTION. ANY BATTERY IN THE SAME COMPARTMENT WITH FUEL CELL MUST HAVE ITS OWN ENCLOSED CONTAINER.
  17. SAFETY BELTS MUST BE ATTACHED AS PER MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDATIONS. LAP BELTS MUST BE 3 INCHES WIDE WITH A MINIMUM OF 2 INCH WIDE SHOULDER BELTS AND MUST BE NO MORE THEN 5 YEARS OLD.
  18. WINDOW NETS ARE MANDATORY.
  19. LUG NUTS MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 1 INCH WITH LARGE WHEEL STUDS.
  20. APPEARANCE AND WORKMANSHIP WILL BE THE DETERMINING FACTOR IN ALL INSPECTIONS. NO EQUIPMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED APPROVED BY REASON OF HAVING PASSED THROUGH INSPECTION UN-OBSERVED.
  21. A DECISION BY G.O.D.S. OFFICIAL OR TECH INSPECTOR SHALL BE FINAL BY HIS INTERPRETATION OF THESE RULES SETFORTH BY G.O.D.S. OR THE SPEEDWAY DIRECTOR.
  22. MANDATORY: WHEN THE CAR HAS PASSED ALL G.O.D.S. VEHICLE SAFETY AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS A G.O.D.S. SAFETY STICKER WILL BE PLACED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SO THE TRACK ENTRANCE TURN MARSHALL CAN SEE THAT THE VEHICLE PASSED INSPECTION. ONLY THEN WILL THE CAR BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK.
  23. THESE RULES ARE JUST A STARTING POINT AND CAN BE AMENDED AT ANY TIME.

DRIVER SAFETY EQUIPMENT:

  1. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY. WE RECOMMEND THAT ALL DRIVERS WEAR A FULL FACE HELMET WITH A FACE SHIELD OR OTHER ADQUATE EYE PROTECTION.
  2. WE RECOMMEND A HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT BE USED.
  3. FIRE SUITS ARE MANDATORY, WE ALSO RECOMMEND THE DRIVER WEAR FIRE PROOF UNDERWEAR, GLOVES AND SHOES. ALWAYS THINK DRIVER SAFETY FIRST!
  4. WE WILL NOT PUT UP WITH ANYONE FIGHTING ON THE TRACK OR IN THE PIT AREA. SHORT TRACK BUMPING AND BANGING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ANYONE THAT FIGHTS OR DOES SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY OVER THE LINE WILL BE SUSPENDED FROM COMPETING IN FUTURE G.O.D.S. EVENTS. THEIR PENALTY WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE CHIEF PIT STEWARD.
