Roxboro Paper: Mule Race won by EZ Apple at Roseville Track Ausgust 20,1059
The special feature introduced for the first time last Sunday afternoon at the new Roseville Speedway,was won by the track's flagman Ezra Apple,of Danville,Va.
For the amusement of racing fans,the track officials staged a mule race in addition to the regular field of "Jalopies".
Apple came in first place astride his mount,with Jimmy Foushee,Of Roxboro second,and race announcer Benny Jarrell,of Roxboro third.
In the main event of the sportsman's race,Haw River's Fred Massey Finished first,with Ray Murphy trailing for second place honors.
Mac Mangum of Roxboro,won the first heat of the sportsman event,and Frank Massey took the second heat.
In the Hobby car class,the main event was won by Dave Porterfield of Durham.
