Legendary New York State Champion Steve Danish pictured here along side his signature cream colored #61. His always pristine cars and fully uniformed crew added a touch of class to the Sportsman dirt tracks of the '50's. Well after the then new V8's began competing, Steve's GM straight 6 cylinder entries continued to chalk up the wins. How well respected was Steve Danish through out his career? His competitors referred to him as "Mr. Danish". BTW, I watched Steve Danish compete at Fonda Speedway for over 10 years and never saw his car return with previous damage. It always looked new.
