Folks just don't come any better than the entire Moore family - Bud, his passed wife Betty and sons Daryl, Greg and Brent. When my family moved from Dallas, Texas to Spartanburg in April 1986, setting up a Campobello, SC racing operation for rookie Derrike Cope, Bud and Betty insisted that we immediately move into their super nice cottage on Lake Bowen and then begin house hunting. They met us with two weeks of groceries to accompany our temporary move into that beautiful lake house. My elementary school age daughters loved feeding the squirrels and ducks there.

A decade later, engine builder Daryl's wife Carol called me at Richmond International Raceway to see if she could pay a visit while in town at a banking conference. One purpose of her visit was to return several coloring books that had fallen behind the washer at the lake house. They were full of my girls' drawings and coloring. Believe me, even the daughters-in-law in the Bud Moore family are special. It was my privilege to see Carol again the day the photos were taken at Memory Lane Museum in 2012 and get a big hug.

Nothing in the world for me can ever compare to have had the pleasure of working with Bud Moore and knowing his family. They broke the mold for me in racing after being privileged to work around those wonderful people.
