First time buddy Frank and I saw this vehicle was in the pre-race parade of pace cars at Rockingham on March 7, 1971 - a race won by Richard Petty. It did not appear the previous week at Richmond at the Cup race also won by Richard. The driver, of course, was T. Wayne Robertson, the first RJR show car driver who would later follow Ralph Seagraves at Manager of RJR Special Events, then lose his life in a wee hours boat crash in the Louisiana bayous in the 1990s. This photo appeared in a bio written by the first Miss Winston, Marilyn Greene.
The car was restored and on display at Darlington last September. I recognized it - but most folks just walked right on by it without realizing what it was.
