Believe it or not, this is actually KYLE Petty in the 43. Its from the 1981 Winston Western 500 at Riverside. As I type this (January 11), its the anniversary of a 1 race experiment where Richard and Kyle swapped numbers. Richard was hoping to win in the 42 to get it on the Winners Circle bonus program. He didn't, Bill France Jr. wasn't happy, and the two swapped back in time for the next race - the Daytona 500 which of course Richard went on to win...in the 43.
