I witnessed this wreck at Darlington in the 1960 Southern 500. Three members of Joe Lee Johnson's pit crew were killed when this car literally "flew" through their pit stall. After this crash NASCAR mandated a seperate pit road entrance. Prior to this crash pit crews serviced their cars right out on the racing surface.
